This thread is an interesting look into an aspect of the poker world that doesn't get talked about much.

Two factors at play here, one is the typical player who underachieves and doesn't put in the work required to improve. The other is a program that advertises free, yet requires a deposit and requirements out of players. If you're an "every man for themselves, if they trip, fall, struggle, they may die, so be it" type of person, clearly you'll be on BPC's side of things here. If you're a "help others no matter their faults, sympathize with struggles and give second chances" then you'll probably side with OP.

I can see both sides of things here and believe clearly both sides share some blame, but to me, Gordon you've been in this business long enough to know that 90% of players that hope to succeed don't put in the effort. When you setup a program like you have, you have to know that plenty will fail. And to both charge them $500 for failing AND label it free, you have to know at the very least that you'll get some upset people. I know at some point you read some internet marketing seminar that said to drown out every complaint with huge posts and to change the discussion to advertising your own product and successes but I hope behind the curtain you're not this emotional about this argument and you realize that you've setup a program yourself that can encourage and exploit an all too common naive player in this game.

ChicagoRy, your description would be correct and one could possibly sympathize if the player would simply "lose" $500 (or in this case $250). But that is not the case.

As a moderator you should hold yourself to a higher standard and at least know about the program you are commenting on - or simply not comment.

They get bootcamp and materials that can easily be sold for $2000+, or for the sake let's say at least $500. Stuff that we depend on to work in the field...because that's how we make money.

Your backhanded comment about "internet marketing" is simply wrong. You should know that everybody out there suggest a "no ask refund, no questions asked" policy. We simply do our own thing, "marketing" is a gimmick that will only last for so long. We have been true to our colors for years. That's why people trust us - even those that don't like us. You know what you will get. There is no surprise.

We do not want to attract the refund crowd. That maximum we go in that area is maybe a short trial period.

People getting upset and blaming others, well you are correct here. That's life and if threads like these discourage people with loser mentality to join, that is a great results.

Anybody who "failed", quit or was kicked out of our CFP programs for whatever reason can join with 0 sign up fee and use that "lost" deposit for this.

There's 0 expiration date on CFP. Some guys are there 1-2 years not making much on microstakes, and not paying anything. They simply don't play more often than a few times per month, and make the occassional update. Nobody is kicked out. Depending on the program, they can join coachings sometimes even every day. We have a player who has not played for 1,5 years. Health problems. Tried to make a comeback a few times, didn't work. So we wait more, no problem. Everybody who is eventually kicked out broke all the rules repeatedly, and ignored repeated attempts to reach them. All of which is explained thorughly before you join (if common sense doesn't do it).

All this somehow translates into "not giving a second chance" and being dog-eat-dog ruthless guys and fantasies like that in some people's minds.

It would be nice if some of the guys quick to judge here would actually take 15 minutes and visit the website which they so expertly pass judgement on. 90% of the things written in this thread are complete fantasies. Like I'm trying to guess what hear-say some statements could be based on, and many times I'm just lost.

Like "program that advertises free but then charges deposit and requires work". Where in the world does it advertise as "free"?? Or "easy"? The main video on the CFP page is about 5-6 minutes of Gordon telling you all the reasons you should NOT join, and how freaking hard and strict it is if you decide to join anyway. Of course you'd actually have to visit the page to know that... Much easier to engage with your own projections and/or join the mob whatever they are looting in the moment...

He is just looking at it from your students perspective. Not just yours, but I am in total agreement with what your saying because I have tried to help people and they don't want to do what I say so they fail and complain its variance or their girlfriend distracts them. It gets old and tilting. I have played against Rylann hu before coached by bpc I know has no problem playing poker for a living. I rarely say a player is good cause I always see them making stupid mistakes. All I can say about him is hes very solid and he the real deal. Hes not a fake pro or anything. Hes a real pro. I don't say that about many players. He got his coaching from bpc. I am not trying to be an advertisement for the site but thats proof of what his training can make in a player. I have played against him and respect how he plays. If he quit and made excuses like this poster he would of not lasted all these years with poker. Rylann is pre black friday player.

While the internet is filled with noise these days and often the "silent majority" of hard workers don't bother trolling, we do have public skin in the game and will respond to most things - even trolls. We accept it as part of reality altho we prefer to quietly focus on coaching and making students more money.

I think this specific "case" here is very clear, my team is 100% correct in all actions. Guy even admitted himself later on what we said at first. He created a slanderous title nevertheless. Oh well. That's fine.

When we teach players and OP responsibility, we ALWAYS look for what we can improve on our part. Like in poker, we don't only talk, we WALK THE WALK.
We always ask ourselves "what can we do better".

We can be like RIO, do some cheap virtue signal and throw a contract breaker/liar/slander some $40 bone that has $0 marginal cost for them.

We're not. When we make an offer, we put real value out there and it will actually COST us something ("proof of work" for the crypto fans lol).
What we did (has been in careful preparing for 3-months) instead was to

a) restrict CFP further (create a stronger filter so only the right and qualified people join)

b) Launch SHARK ACADEMY , which can be viewed as CFP light. No contracts, No profit share. Daily LIVE coachings that you can join with any question you have. Join and leave any time you wish.

Since a security deposit was always supposed to be "skin in the game" and nothing else, and since those that paid this deposit proved that they were committed, we allow them to join the Shark Academy without having to pay the signup fee.


As a summary, there are 3 BPC programs:

1) At the SHARK ACADEMY, the customer is the king. Any wish, email us, any topic, we can implement. With your subscription you pay a monthly fee and we will make sure you get a lot more than that back in value. We probably increase the price soon, but currently its 49/month. If you do the math, you pay less than $2 per day for a live coach and a huge library of PROVEN study material.
Even one hour with a private coach will cost you more. With us you get that every day + professional environment and many other extras.

Any question, ask a coach in live every day (see details on schedule). This is fair, you pay for a service, you should expect to get what YOU want in addition to what we offer.

2) At CFP, nothing changes. WE make the rules, individual coaches put in extra time, blood, sweat and tears. We only get paid if you win. We will always listen to you, but it's the traditional "learn from the master" apprentice. We will use rough language because we know it works. If you don't like it, don't join CFP. If you believe you can blackmail us like OP, it wont work. We don't give in. It's the same reason real winners can trust us, bc we never give up on you either.

3) BPC Elite. No public access. No fees, but only accessable to 30k+ finishers. Community of hard working and some not-so-hard-working-but-rich people. Real networking with quality people only.

I'm not new to poker however I was interested in coaching, I think Gordon is spot on with whats been said so far the OP had a chance to keep to his commitment, he failed that commitment whist BPC kept his account active and gave him access to study material etc.

It sucks that he can't restart his course but I have seen BPC take this stance since day one and you cant knock them for there consistency .

Do they create winners? I don't know

Is it all marketing? Possibly

So no, it's not all marketing, in fact we must suck at it since with all the testimonials we have it should be obvious after all these years

But I will say, it's not as simple as us turning you into a winner. We provide all the tools, the know-how and live interactive support via daily coachings and skype groups. We show you how others have done it, and exactly what to do. Then it's up to the player to actually do it. In CFP, we do push and remind you regularly to keep up with your commitments.

But yes, CFP may not be for everybody, like OP for example, but that's not down to BPC, but the player. I would dare say OP would likely not have been accepted into a CFP arrangement with other coaches in the first place. I could be wrong, anybody can correct me if I am. We did give a chance, and sometimes it doesnt work out.

Re: BestPokerCoaching.com BPC did me wrong.

This thread is a bit old but having just read it I am inclined to agree with ChicagoRy. The amount of marketing and the focus of that marketing is directed to lazy players who will donate their money to BPC and then fade into the felt. For instance among a myriad of daily promotions I receive from BPC is one for a product called: NoBS 6-Max Automation Tool. They target the lazy with this promise: "The NOBS 6-Max Automation Tool It's the automated version of the preflop chart you downloaded, and can save you many hours of memorizing the ranges. And, you won't even have to worry about what to do post flop because it covers that part too." I mean, how easy can it get? My advice is to look for something that has a trial period of thirty days with no financial loss to you. Learning is very demanding for most of us, but we all have dreams. BPC marketing seems to play on this conflicting equation.

Two and a half year old thread, second post in a year and a half total membership time, seems odd.

This is an old thread but wanted to add my two cents on this in case anyone still reads these. When I read about BCP, I sent them an e-mail and filled out an application. Having talked to the person on Skype, I am convinced it is a complete scam. I thought they stake you but they don't, but instead they take 50% of your winnings without risking anything. What a scam. Then in the contract, the private coaching you receive is 3 hours for every 100,000 hands. That's absolutely criminal from my point of view and I feel sorry for anyone who was desperate enough to try something like that. They were even getting on me about playing enough hands and grinding enough live as well. I think anyone associated with that site is a scammer and loses all credibility with me. Any coach for profit I am very suspect about but especially when they don't give you hardly any private coaching and the rest of the material you can just buy on their site without having to give them 50% of any winnings. The private coaching is the only way that the contract could be worth it and for 3 hours every 100,000 hands what a scam. I think it's a disgusting marketing designed to prey on the naive and desperate.

CFP is a scam UNLESS you get 100% staked and start playing 50NL as lowest stake. In addition you should get MDA and proved system not some LOL mastercall that nobady have heard off.
