It's hard to choose just one because they accomplish different things. Ideally, a training site helps you think better about poker, and a solver helps you study and construct your own strategies.
If you're already a winning player then I would suggest GTO Wizard because you're going to need to cross the bridge of getting more acquainted with solvers and theory eventually, and these cloud-based GTO sites like Wizard and GTO X are much more approachable and user friendly than buying PIO and hoping for the best. Getting more advanced in your own studies will also make it easier for you to ultimately take more away from coaching videos in the future, which will heavily reference GTO/Solver outputs.
Hey guys, I've been playing poker for around a year now, playing up to 25z with a decent winrate.
I was thinking of picking up a studying tool, I was going to either sign up to Upswing (because I heard they have the best cash game content), or sign up to GTO Wizard.
What do you guys think is the best option to improve?
In your shoes a training site is probably of far more value than GTOWizard. Generally speaking a solver is not going to help your immediate game at 25z because if any of those guys were playing anything close to balanced they wouldn’t be playing 25z.
On top of that I am not overly impressed with these ‘solver on demand’ sites due to both the cost and the lack of ability to modify ranges.
Plan of action if I were in your shoes:
1) move up to 100z asap and perhaps drop zone altogether of your goal is to get better. The rake is ridic and I think classic tables allow for more thought process which aids in learning. Plus, those games are softer and win rate generally trumps volume.
2) I have preferred RunItOnce to Upswing but YMMV. Still I think a training site is good. I usually buy a subscription for a month and binge watch a bunch of stuff to stay current. I don’t like paying month by month because I end up ignoring 90% of material anyway. I find coaches that jive with me and absorb all their content.
3) buy a copy of GTO+ and do your own customized range work. It’s cheap and trumps the subscription services in terms of actual functionality. Again, afaik none of the subscription sites allow you to modify ranges prefloo which in essence makes the outputs you are studying to be of at least lesser value and perhaps negative.
4) find a coach. Not cheap but if you find the right one perhaps their value is most immense.
