Hey,

I just finished Jonathen Little Tournament Masterclass and it was good and see improvement in my trny numbers but i just dont have the time to grind trnys everyday. Id like to transition to 1/1 2/5 nl cash live and 1/2 online. Whats the best Cash Cash Game course out there?

Thanks

I recently got back into cash game study and have been working through the following:
- The Course (Ed Miller)
- How to read hands at No Limit Hold'em (Ed Miller)
- Upswing Poker Lab: Live Cash Game Bankroll Booster

The Course is a very simplified approach to NL. It doesn't even broach the topic of barreling until the 2-5 section. The assertion that you can become good enough to beat 1-3/1-2 and transition to 2-5 without ever really thinking about your opponents hand range is potentially controversial. Playing pairs, big connected hands that are mostly suited, and not paying off your opponents by using a ruthless bet/fold strat is the name of the game for the first half of the book.

Reading Hands at No Limit Hold'em is fundamental, imo.

As far as Upswing goes, I did their No Limit Simplified track, and that was very basic. There is a decent skill delta between NL Simplified track and the Bankroll Booster track.

The latter goes far more in depth on concepts like board texture, hand ranges, and barreling. The former is very simple and focuses on "The Four Categories" and how hands transition between categories based on position and as a hand progresses.

For $99/month ($74 w/ discount), it's on the pricier side of training sites. But it has an app with a wide array of hand ranges that are nice to study while pooping. The RunItOnce "From The Ground Up" course is probably a better value at $49.

I'm going through Splitsuit preflop workbook to get myself used to poker math, which i have been avoiding until now. I feel math( pot odds etc is more important in cash games then tournaments. Ive heard good things about ed miller books but im afraid they're just outdated at this point. Ill look into it though.

Thanks

The Course may be dated but hard to imagine "How to Read Hands at No Limit Hold'em" being outdated. It's fundamental to playing good poker, and the only real thing that has changed are the charts. The methods are still the same.

Here's a video review of Splitsuit's new book, the Live Cash Game Workbook:

Re Ed Miller's work: I think The Course is still very much up to date for live low stakes poker. Maybe less so 5/10 but 1/2 and even most 2/5 games are no different to where they were in 2017.
Obviously, there's no GTO in The Course, but you don't need that at all at live ow stakes.
