Hey, I am looking for some advice..
I am currently in a 40/60 backing deal (60% to backer) currently 4k into MU
I was originally getting backed for up to $11 freezeout/turbos and up to $3r,
was recently upped stakes to up to $16.50reg speeds and up to $5r. Now since I've been on a big losing streak over the last few months my backer is telling me to play $4.50 180 man Sit and Goes. I am wondering if this is fair seeing as how first place in one of these SnG is only $221 which mean i would have tons of work to do to clear my 4k MU. Is this fair for him to lower me this much seeing as how if I had wanted to play this low of stakes I would do it on my own dime and not be backed for it. Just looking for some input here as I am kind of in a sticky situation because the backer has not shown any signs of wanting to drop me from the stake. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

if you didn't state what you were being staked for beforehand (if you didn't have a specific set of things i.e. staked for $7 180s or more) then of course it's fair.

If he's trying to change the original contract though then that nullifies it.

To ask you to drop back to $4.50 180s is extreamly unreasonable, at worst he should ask you to drop back to what you were origionally staked for,FOs up to $11 and 3$rs. If he can't afford to keep you in those games then he's got a problem, it's none or your concern imo.

I'd get a different opinion other than mine though! lol
If you have another contact in the staking industry, seek their opinion before consulting with your backer.

100% wrong

If horse is not playing well and on a big swing it makes perfect sense to do this.

Actually your backer is a good one, most let their horses get so deep in make up they need huge scores to get out.

Keeping make up small is great for horses and backers. Horses so when they have a score they actually get some $ and backers because horse is less likely to scam and also will play better.

Given the huge variance in mtts 180 mans are a great idea.

It sort of depends. Making a horse move down because he isn't good enough can be reasonable. Making a horse move down because you're broke/risk averse isn't. Obviously this isn't always clear. If the horse is a big long term winner in the higher games, then it would suggest the latter.

Oh wait, is your backer asking you to play $4.50 180s only or add them to your session? When reading the OP I taught the former.
If it's the latter I'm sure he's being unreasonable, although I did tell you to get a second opinion lol

He never mentioned this either.
