I want to throw together a study and mutual support group focused upon members using purposeful practice and deliberate practice to get better at poker.

My own background is as primarily a live cash game player, mostly NLHE these days, but this is the only thread I know about NLHE study groups, so I am posting here. I have been playing cardroom poker (including NLHE) since 1997, before the boom. I have historically focused on limit hold'em and a few other games, but in 2018 decided to try to bring my NLHE game to the level of contemporary strategy and tactics.

Here is a good rundown on what purposeful and deliberate practice mean.

Online resources that are related are Sky Matsuhashi's Smart Poker Study site, Alex Fitzgerald's mailing list and OneOuter podcast.

I am open to players at all levels, both live and online, both cash games and tournaments. I am asking only that people who join the group, once I set it up on Discord, make a commitment to both themselves and the group to do something to improve their poker game every day, and to bring their support to other people doing the same sort of thing.

I want the group to be nurturing and supportive, and to respect the diversity of its members.

5z player here looking for a study group

Looking for a study group or groups where most players play micro-SSNL on Stars or equivalent. Profoundly uninterested in groups predominantly made up of people on app sites.

Bio: currently playing 25z on Stars as a 3bb-ish winner. Not really interested in playing for a living again or moving up past 50NL-100NL ish (I don't want to deal with the stress associated with doing that a few hours a week), but would be happy to join groups with people who do want to do that. Good understanding of theory, poor mental game and often play when drunk, so expect some 'fun' hands. Sometimes get pissed off with poker and don't want to think about it for a couple of weeks but can get really intensely into it when I'm in the mood.

Slack is my preferred platform but also happy to use Discord, Skype or Facebook (if the group's privacy settings are set to secret).
