Hi 2+2ers,

Welcome to the official WPT Global thread!

WPT Global makes poker players’ dreams come true in association with the World Poker Tour. After launching in April 2022 we’re already the second-largest online poker room in the world (ranked by PokerScout.com, based on cash game traffic).

We’re joining TwoPlusTwo to share information with you, engage with the community, and answer any questions you might have.

WPT Global is special for a few reasons:
  • The safest games, anywhere online: Our modern platform has been built from the beginning to leverage AI technology. We use this in two main ways. The first is to protect the games by detecting collusion, bot use, RTA use and other forms of cheating extremely quickly. We have the best Game Integrity tech I’ve experienced in my 19 years in the industry, and a team of around 50 people using it.
    Learn More Here

  • FairGame - Every game is a great game, guaranteed: The second way we utilise AI technology is in managing our ecology. We ensure that games are sustainable and beatable by reserving seats in every game for casual players and limiting the number of seats per table that can be occupied by experts. I’ll go into more detail on this point later, in the below FAQ, but the net result is - we have the softest cash games you’ll find online, and typical win-rates for good regs are 5-10x higher than elsewhere. (If you don't believe me, just try them and see for yourself).

  • We have had a large liquidity pool from the very beginning, especially in cash games. This is because we partnered with a couple of successful Asia-facing poker rooms to bootstrap their liquidity. Most poker startups face an enormous challenge in growing their liquidity from scratch - this solution allowed us to launch with cash games running 24/7 and it contributes to our soft player pool. Now, WPT Global is a large poker site in its own right and less dependent on the Asia liquidity, and we’re growing our games in US Dollars all the time.

  • There is enormous value on offer - our explicit aim is to pay back more to players via promotions and giveaways than any other site. Check out our current promotions here.

  • Global Spins is our unique twist on the Jackpot SNG concept, with a progressive jackpot and the lowest rake in the industry (5%).

  • As part of the World Poker Tour family, we’re the best place to qualify for WPT events around the world, like the WPT World Championship at the Wynn later this year.

Some of you might remember me and my colleague WPT Global Peter from our previous roles. Many years ago, I was one of the first site representatives ever to engage with the 2+2 community, as the first PokerStars representative in the ‘PokerStars Software Improvement Thread’. Later, Peter and I ran the ‘Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network Thread’. You can expect a similar level of transparency and responsiveness here. While I don’t promise to respond to every single thing, no constructive question or criticism is off limits.

I look forward to engaging with you all!

All the best,

Alex Scott
President, WPT Global

FAQ

You can also read a more general FAQ on our website, here.

What countries is WPT Global available in?

Currently, we have a .com licence and have not entered any regulated markets (although we will start to do so soon). We’re open to most markets that have yet to regulate, including Canada (except Ontario), Ireland, New Zealand and most of Latin America, Asia and Africa.

We don’t (yet) accept players from the US, UK, Australia, Russia, and most of Europe. If you’re from one of these countries and want to qualify for WPT events then Club WPT might work for you, and if you’re from the US then Club WPT Gold, which uses the modern sweepstakes model, might also interest you.

See our Terms and Conditions (section 2.5) for more detailed information.

How does FairGame work? Do you ban winners from playing at WPT Global?

No, our ecology management system is specifically designed so that we can run sustainable games in a way that is better for everyone.

In cash games, FairGame measures the skill level of every player and predicts their win rate. The model is highly accurate and continually updates so that it cannot be abused or ‘gamed’.

We reserve a number of seats at each cash game table for players that fall into one of our ‘casual player’ categories. In our most popular game (8-Handed NLHE with an ante and a straddle) we reserve six of the eight seats for casual players, which effectively means that experts can only occupy two seats.

Because there is plenty of liquidity, if you find yourself categorised as an expert, you can still always find a game to play at any stake, and you can guarantee yourself a seat in a great game if you start a table, since FairGame ensures that only one other expert can sit with you. (You will also be rewarded with up to 40% rakeback for starting the table).

The system does not categorise players by their actual win rate, but by how skilled they are. If you have a great run of luck, you will not necessarily be categorised as an expert, and vice versa, you will not necessarily be categorised as a casual player if you run bad.

We find that once players get used to the system, they love it. Both experts and beginners have a better experience because we eliminate some of the common predatory behaviour that occurs elsewhere, and good regulars can achieve significantly higher win rates. I encourage you to give it a try!

What’s with the games in CNY currency?

Because we partnered with Asia-facing poker rooms to launch, some of our games are in Chinese Yuan (CNY) currency. At the time of writing, the exchange rate to the dollar is about 7.25 CNY to the USD. As we’ve become less dependent on the Asian liquidity we have introduced more USD games. Most cash games and all tournaments including Global Spins are now available in USD, and for those of you that want to play in the CNY games, there’s a handy currency converter in the lobby, and the ability to change the stacks to BB.

****

Welcome back Alex, I remember you from MPN times, feel pretty nostalgic about those times and even Microgamign software (before it was castrated lmao)

I was researching about WPT global as I actually consider trying it out and quick search led me there:
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...?highlight=wpt
Guy says he was treated unfairly and has been very public about it, ended up being ignored. Does not do a favor when one is considering trying out the room. Would you mind to comment?

While this is our first official thread on 2+2, we have been monitoring it for a while and we have followed up on complaints like this privately, via DM or by reviewing the communication in our back office tools (or both). We certainly haven't ignored anyone and of course we would not 'steal' anybody's money. While I don't want to talk about specific cases publicly I can say that, in general, the cases mentioned on 2+2 have usually been simple misunderstandings.

If anyone reading this has made a complaint or had a negative experience with WPT Global, then please feel free to post here or DM me - I want to hear about it and will do my best to make it right.

HI. I'd like to know how many bb/100 (best straddle/100 ) really pay por play in 102040 and 2550100. For example in GG I rake paid about to 8bb/100 in NL500 playing 29/21/8

What company audits the random distribution of hands? What other poker rooms does this company audit?

I see that preflop pots with no flop are raked in a straddle game. Is that so?
Also, 3bet pots are equally raked, from what I see. Please kindly confirm.

Hi. WPT can chase bots, collusers and superusers (something we all obviously want), but if they come from the associated Asian skins, how can they do it quickly? Because until they are detected, the damage has already been done.

Our rake tables can be found here: https://wptglobal.com/poker-table-rake

I don't have the rake in bb/100 easily available but I'll see what I can dig out. Obviously it depends somewhat on your playing style and won't be the same for everybody. What I can say almost for certain is that you will have a higher winrate, after rake, on WPT Global than you will on GG. This is because of our ecology management system (and how bad the games on GG are). The average reg on WPT Global has a winrate 5-10x higher than they do on GG, after rake. (I'll be sharing more information on this in the coming weeks).

We're audited by GLI (Gaming Labs International) which is one of the largest auditors in gaming. They work with pretty much everyone in some capacity, but you can see some of their case studies here: https://gaminglabs.com/resources/casestudies/

You can see our RNG certificate here: https://access.gaminglabs.com/Certificate/Index?i=526

No, that's not correct, we don't rake pots if they end preflop. No flop, no drop. I'm not quite sure what you mean about 3bet pots, could you elaborate?

While we have our own dedicated game integrity team as well, much of the game integrity team works at the network level, and all of our proactive tools cover the network as a whole including all the Asian skins. We're not slowed down by the Asia skins at all. Asia is kind of a unique region and it's amazing what kind of obvious fraud players will try to make a few bucks, but typically this is fraud that harms us (e.g. bonus abuse) and not something that harms players. When it comes to game integrity (issues that directly harm players) we are fast, and getting quicker all the time.

Sorry but on Pace tables 1/2/4 CNY (Zoom) rake is taken preflop
even when you're on bb, and the blinds fold to you, the pot that you receive is reduced by about 0.3 CNY after it goes to you. Same when you raise, and blinds fold, your stack is reduced afterwards by a small amount.

Im pretty sure he is correct has seen many times that the pot is raked pre flop but not all the time, might be the jackpot fee but its still non sense you are paying for the jackpot without the chance to hit the jackpot

Thanks for answering me.

At the time I looked for it but I didn't see that they worked with any poker room (they audit bets or online casinos). It is striking that the gaminglabs website does not show WPT among the 16 cases of audiotesting.

Skin fraud associated with WPT does harm players, which is why they have made some money refunds to some players.

Thank you for committing to looking for information on the rake really charge in bb/100 (as compared in any room). I know it depends on the style of play, so I made it clear that I was a 29/21/8 (VPIP/PFR/3bet) player on GG's 6max at NL500.

We were able to reproduce this in testing - we're looking into this and I will let you know when I have a definitive answer.

I can't answer for your specific style of play, however I did find out that, on average, it's about 5bb/100. (This is across multiple stakes, play styles etc).

So I must apologise, it seems you are correct, and in Pace games rake is in fact taken preflop. It seems this decision was made by the Asian network partners some time ago and we weren't informed. I'll make sure the website is updated to reflect this and I'm also lobbying for the rake schedule for Pace to be changed so that rake is not taken preflop. I'd understand if you didn't want to play Pace in the meantime and can only apologise again for the misunderstanding here.

Hi - we had a brief technical issue with cash games earlier. The money should already have been returned to your account, as this happens automatically after a period of time. If it ever happens again, there is a workaround - go to the 'My Games' tab (it's the second layer of navigation, beneath 'NLHE' / 'PLO' / 'Short Deck'). In that tab you'll see the tables you are seated at. Open those tables and then leave them, and the money will be immediately returned.

Could you send some proof of how you came to this conclusion? Because being 8max tables, with ante and straddle, money going to the jackpot and a huge multiplayer postflop pot, the rake is surely higher than 5bb/100 (even higher than in GG)

No rakeback program?
Not much action (1 table) at midstakes PLO ~ 19.00CEST. I see there is a no rake promotion for tournaments... maybe have something similar for PLO to increase player pool? Am I correct in that the only promotion for cash game players is Kings of Cash?

Hello Alex/WPT,

I've been actively playing on this site since the start of the year and overall it has been smooth up until this past week.

On Sunday April 14th there was a technical issue in which the site went down and I wasn't able to log back in. At the time of the server issue I was 2/8 in the $330 Grand Slam tournament which I ended up blinding out in to second place I also was 2/30 in the $1060 $12,400 WPT package with around 4.5x starting stack. When I was finally able to log back in I saw that the tournament was still running and I had blinded out in to 8th place for a $1060 ticket. There was also players still playing as it appears the majority of the site was affected but some players weren't disconnected.

After lots of back and forth emails with customer care they basically concluded that my results due to blinding out are of sufficient compensation according to their guidelines.

I am somewhat OK with the $330 result but due to it being a PKO tournament I feel my result is still quite a bit below what the ICM value of my stack was at the time of the server issue. I feel it is quite unfair that my only compensation for the $1060 tournament is a refund when I was a favourite to winning one of the packages at the time of disconnection.

I'm overall pretty disappointed in this. I understand technical errors happen but I feel the bare minimum would be to offer an ICM value compensation at the time of disconnection would seem to be the standard protocol by most reputable sites. Is this WPT's standard guideline for compensation during disconnections? Is it possible to have the incident reviewed again?

Hello All!

My first post here under this account, although been a member of 2+2 for a very long time!

I am Peter and am currently the Head of Poker Room Management, which is just a fancy way of saying in charge of MTTs. We definitely picked a great week to start WPT Global’s journey on 2+2, with the downtime seen on both Sunday during our majors, as well as a brief outage on Tuesday too ☹

My main goal for this account is to spread the word on all things tournaments for WPT Global. Noting this, I bring you the schedule for our $2.5M guaranteed Warm Up Festival (kicking off in less than 5 hours from now with the $33 The Opener $10K GTD).

Full Schedule (ET)

Full Schedule (CET)

We are obviously a smaller site than some of the others, and so our guarantees will naturally be lower, however we are growing quite nicely. This Warm Up Festival is one of our mid-quarter mini series and is 10 days long (Friday – Sunday). In comparison, last year’s full Spring Festival was half the guarantee! The Warm Up Festival counts towards our $250,000 Player of the Year promotion.

As mentioned above, we have a large Asian contingent on the platform, and the peak times for MTTs are ~20:30 UTC+8 as well as ~19:30 UTC-5. Currently our offerings for our European players might be a bit lacking, although one can choose to play quite early or quite late!

I will post the schedule each day, so won’t go on too much more in this one but our $110 Sunday Slam (PKO) just hit a milestone last week and will be $100,000 guaranteed going forward! This weekly tournament starts at 15:00 UTC-5 (on Sundays naturally).

Oh, maybe I should have mentioned earlier that all of our MTTs, including the Warm Up Festival, are rake free for April!

Also, some of the guarantees we set for Warm Up Festival are already upped and at least 3 of today's events are considerably more than what is shown above

Excuse any spelling mistakes etc above, it is approaching 2:30am for me!

Unfortunately I can't share any proof - but I asked the right person in our team, who has access to the data, and this is what I was told.

We have run various rakeback experiments since launching, but haven't launched a formal loyalty program yet. It's coming later this year, informed by the results of the experiments. To be honest, a loyalty program wasn't our top priority simply because reg winrates are already incredibly high.

PLO is relatively new to us (we launched it in the last 12 months) and it isn't popular in Asia at all, so it doesn't have the liquidity we have in other games. That said, it is growing quickly especially in the Latam / Canada peak times.

Kings of Cash is our current cash game promo yes, look out for more coming soon.

I apologise for the way this was handled. Our team is trained to understand these situations and to look at ICM where possible / relevant; but I suspect what has happened here is that your case has been mishandled due to the sheer volume of queries we had due to the recent downtime.

I see Peter is helping you with this, meanwhile I'll talk to our support team about how we ensure situations like yours are handled better in the future.

Your software needs help

-Not being able to wait until BB in cash games is pretty absurd
-The sitout feature is also absurd. If I sitout for 1 hand (missing no blinds) I am forced to post again, and even if you sitout and immediately sit back in without missing a hand - you still are forced to post.

Day 2 of our $2,500,000 guaranteed Warm Up Festival starts in about 7 hours and here is today's schedule:

There are still events open for late reg and upcoming for Day 1, including the first flight of our $220 Warm Up Championship ($300K GTD), which kicks off in 30 minutes. Top 18% from each flight go through to Day 2, starting on the last day of the series (28th April)

One MTT promotion that we started ~1 year ago was Bump It Up. This promo raises the guarantee by 10% each time that specific tournaments* hit, pretty much guaranteeing overlay multiple times before hitting again! It runs on 3 daily tournaments, as well as on 3 of our Sunday majors. Current guarantees & times:

$55 Lucky Escalator PKO ($26,600 GTD) - 9am UTC-5
$22 Daily Escalator Turbo ($8,100 GTD) - 3pm UTC-5
$110 Nightly Escalator PKO ($27,500 GTD) - 7:30pm UTC-5

$110 Sunday Slam ($100,000 GTD) - 3pm UTC-5
$330 Grand Slam ($66,000 GTD) - 3:10pm UTC-5
$11 Mini Slam ($17,500 GTD) - 3:20pm UTC-5

This promotion has been particular effective in 2024, with the $110 Sunday Slam raising up multiple times to a point that Alex is worried about the potential overlay each week!

*During any series, any of the above tournaments that are part of the series are removed from the promotion
