ACR Team,

I hope this is received well; this is not a compliant in any way; but rather looking for help on what I should do. I currently have a small amount of money on the site (for me); approximately 6k. I am a recreational player and this is by no means a source of income; it's a way to have a little fun and hopefully rack in a pot or two once and a while.

That being said; I have played a lot of poker over the years and my career is one where I have to service my clients to be successful. Sometimes I don't like what they have to say and no they are not always right. But I'm always willing to lend an hear and figure out a way to solve problems.

So I'm asking for you to let me know what I should do when I spend my free time playing a tournament and the outcome is the site going down. Or I go to play to blow off some steam and maybe try and improve to make some money and I can't.

I would love to play on your site; I enjoy playing on your site; how can you make me feel safe because I would rather take my money and have a fun weekend then have it evaporate. Please provide guidance?

TED

Can't they just get a massive cloud provider like Amazon to screen the IPs and disallow connections from everywhere else?

What are you talking about?! People are upset because they really wanted WPN to be the new FullTilt and due to constant security problems, false promises, bad customer support, poor network safeguards, etc. It's not. Instead people have effectively thrown away their $$ and time... while WPN has been pulling profit
Removed the name from this quote because what I'm going to say isn't about any one particular person in particular, as it applies to many.

Sure, much of this is true, and everyone should be allowed to vent their frustration and even explore their theories. But there comes a point where it's all just perceived as noise and not all that helpful. I know if I was a WPN player looking for information, the arguing about whether it is or isn't a DDOS attack would be driving me nuts by now.

I don't want to say "no more DDOS discussion" or micromanage the thread, but it sure seems like this debate has been pretty well hashed out of late, so I'll just ask that people consider that before posting about it yet again.

But most importantly, if you are going to keep arguing about that or other things, a little more civility would be nice. The direct personal attacks really aren't necessary.

Hopefully the site gets things together soon for you guys, or if you're bitterly unhappy with them, you find somewhere that makes you happier.

if nothing else, at least they have become somewhat effective at "mitigating" the attacks upon happening

Yeah it’s pretty ****ed up that I’ve been conditioned to expect issues and to be happy as long as the tournaments resume lol

So on point. Screw them for ONLY using twitter, a limited character outlet, to update us. It's literally the one outlet that almost forces them to be vague.

EMAIL US. YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR EMAILS. AM I TAKING CRAZY PILLS?
Didn't they already take it down for over a month and it just got worse?
Does SNG 2.0 not work anymore?

They already have one. It's called CloudFlare. It is an enormously popular provider with an excellent reputation.

They already screen IP addresses. However, as I've explained ITT before, when there is a large amount of DDoS activity from a certain IP range, the whole block is cut off. When customers contact live chat and get white-listed, that is how they get their individual IP through that blocking mechanism.

So my question is, first off i dont have a clue, niw, if ddos is an attack on access, how does that affect clients within? so how does ddos relate to existing tournaments?

kahn why can't you answer my very fair and legitimate question? find me one SINGLE online business other than WPN who has been victim to this sort of on going issues with DDoS attacks.

why are they so special?

it's quite clear to me that there is a power struggle/insider problem at WPN. Phil and co are clearly not in full control of the software or they would have easily fixed the problem. They are being extorted in a way that only makes sense if they have been choosing to pay the ransom...which is not consistent at all with normal DDoS attacks.

this is the same exact reason they cannot get reputable protection from DDoS attacks. they know that bringing in outsiders to the situation will expose them.

It's not an attack on access, it's a constant high volume stream of requests being sent to the servers. The servers have limited capacity for these requests and when they get overloaded they fail. It affects clients in-game because your game is being played over the same network and protocol that is being overloaded by the attacker.

It's a fair and legitimate question that you could've found an answer for in less time than it took you to write this post. Some of the largest content delivery networks on the planet -- the ones that tiny companies like WPN rely on -- have been attacked recently. There are even companies that have shut down because of the attacks. See here: http://bfy.tw/JJJF

Contacted a rep on live chat, had me do the following to be able to log in.

Right click on the Windows icon on taskbar, select run. Entered IExplore, clicked ok, then Ctrl-Shft-Delete, and deleted browsing history.(1st three items selected) Was able to get back in right away. Your poker client cannot be open at the time. If you get a pop up when opening up the poker client that asks you to send a report, you might need to close it and delete the browsing history again
