I know it's counter-intuitive, but the traffic is slow because of the 15 minute levels...which, causes the late registration period to be extended in order to meet guarantees. People get in late to a tournament with 15 minute levels because they know they can ride a short stack out for much longer under that structure. Sure...it's beneficial for YOU when you get in the position to be one of those short stacks late in the tourney...but it's also beneficial to those late registrants who get in and luck box their way to the final table after buying in 3 hours after the tournament started....
With 12 minute levels and shorter registration...more people are forced to enter the tournament earlier in a shorter amount of time. Which, allows the guarantees to be met earlier. If you put 4 hour late registration on a 12 minute level structure nobody would register after 2-3 hours because it would be a total slot machine at that point.
15 minute levels make it easier for those late registrants to survive. The website is taking the wrong approach to addressing the issue...their solution has been "more late registration time to meet the guarantees." The solution needs to be "less registration time with a slightly faster blind structure."
