The key is that more players would be able to get a small weekly bonus RIGHT NOW. But take a look at the SNG lobby now, on a day where the volume has typically been great (including yesterday), it’s a ghost town right now. And what happens if volume continues to be this low? Less total spots will be paid, and when less spots will be paid, we will end up seeing less spots at both the top and the bottom. It also means that WPN makes less money since they won’t be making as much rake.
The change won’t happen immediately because part of the money from the rake races and taken to reseed for the following week, but it will be a steady decline. So the amount of time it takes for you to get that 50, 125, 250, 500 spot will probably increase, as you will need to wait longer for games on average. If you play spins, it probably affects you slightly less. But for others that don’t play that format, as well as wait that long for a game to pop off, they won’t stick around.
Take a look at the current total payout of the SNC. It’ll probably hit 27k by the end of the day. Last week’s total payout was 61K, which means that 15k of that 27k was seeded (since 25% of the SNC goes into the following week). So if we are being optimistic and the leaderboard keeps growing in a linear fashion, then that means it will grow at 6k per day. So that means in the best case scenario, the leaderboard will end the week at 57k. However, we know that volume slows down heavily towards the end of the week, and once regs finish getting their 500, it’ll be harder for any of the games to run. And because the incentives are less, we could soon see the departure of some regs, which means getting less and less volume slowly, and less total payouts for everyone. You might not play less, but the lack of resulting volume is definitely a deterrent for others. It’s all a domino effect.
Sorry about the long winded answer, but I felt like I needed to be thorough to explain this all.
