With an achievement you can't do anything iirc? It just sits there in the lobby so I ain't surprised if no one really cares about them. Givin' rewards (but plz no UO open tickets :P) for regulars and things like showin' the badge on the table for recreational players sound like a good plan.

I disagree a little for recreational players (or even grinders with a gaming background) the achievements are a nice added dynamic I think. If your trying to grind a bankroll at micros can be tedious but challenges spice it up a bit.

Would be cool if there was a store where you could order clothing merchandise with your challenge accomplishments I'm sure would be fun to wear it to a live tourney and explain what they all mean (if you can remember)

I would be content if I could just show the badges at the tables...
Having some kind of rakeback deal for harder ones would be awesome too

It was always the plan to be able to pin them at the tables. We ended up pinning in the profile screen as a temporary measure I think. I'd definitely like to pin for the tables, but perhaps we'd need to redesign it a bit to do so - e.g. by having a slot for it that's blank when you start. That nudges people into investigating it.

Just an idea about achievements
Maybe if there was some kind of badge or colour coded border in the client which had a number of different levels and the more achievements you had the better your badge or colour, so for instance if you've maxed all achievements you'll get equivalent of sne badge on stars and if your just starting you'll be on the first badge, and the more achievements you earn the higher up the badge prestige ladder you'll go.

I think this would be good because then its competitive to earn more accomplishments and people would be paying attention to what they are and what they need to do next to earn it.

That's very similar to what I had in my first draft of achievements. The problem was that we felt we were trying to do too many things at once - missions, Challenges, achievements. Challenges were already a bit "level-up-y", for example. Maybe it works better now that people are used to a lot of the other new things we're doing.

Well there where 11 players on 0.25 and i played only heads up on 2 tables for 10 min with the same guy.

For the achievements certain ones could give you a boost to your starting points for challenges, so if you have the royal flush achievement you could get
100 point head start on each quarters challenge.The more achievements you complete the more of a head start you get.

Another idea a percentage boost to challenge points based on how many achievements you have unlocked, example 10 achievements gives you a 2%
bonus on challenge points earned.

Also how about some challenge point freerolls, you could even have them payout all players with 1 point as the lowest prize, It would be a way to boost your points when your stuck on the harder challenges.

I have had the same on the FNL4, if there are only 6-10 players showing
you seem to keep playing the same 1 or 2 players or end up on the waiting list for ages. Possibly it could be players are sat out and not actively playing.

It's usually only a problem in the early hours when the players are low.

Maybe Andrew will need an early start to check this one

just finished playing 3 tournaments in a row (2 jackpots simoultaneously), and i have to say that the tourney lobby is actually more broken than i imagined.

first, take a look at this:


as you can see, that fluffguy actually is not playing (probably dropped 60 mins ago), but he was still whole time on the leaderboard, confusing remaining players, especially when in the money, because there was always actually 1 guy less to count.

2.) when I started to play UO 2 EUR (while still playing jackpot2), whole time I couldn't check my position in it, just the overall number of players remaining (My position = -/162 for example)

3.) after i finally completed all tournaments, when I checked lobbies of each one of them, it said that they were running for the exact same amount of time, which is impossible because Jackpot ones started at 19 CET, while UO 2eur started at 20:55...


To summarize it, please fix tourney lobbies ASAP, it's really broken

The main lobby just freezes sometimes.

I have this sometimes aswell. The lobby becames darkish and you cant to anthing in it anymore, tables still work but you cant do anything else. restarting the client fixes the problem.

When this happens if you close the affected lobby and reopen it, it is normally fine again.

If you have only one lobby open you need to open a second one and then close the affected lobby.

I know this is not ideal but at least you can check where you are in the tourney.

Ah. I think this is fixed now. I think it's because there was a guy who wrote a script that tried to take advantage of our spot-rate currency conversion. He'd join and leave tables when there were currency fluctuations. He made €12 over the course of a week before we noticed what he was doing (yes, €12, not €12k). Because of the way Fast looks at the player pool, it sometimes looked like there were more people there than there really were.

Hopefully that isn't happening anymore.

I like this kind of idea. We have similar with the late level playthrough bonuses in Challenges - the aim is to give people reason to play the first few weeks of the next quarter. Perhaps this could work too.

I think this would be really hard to scale and correspondingly hard to explain. But awarding Challenge points via achievements could work. That way we're still tying everything together.

I like this in principle, but in practice it'd mean we'd need to always have the same number of steps for each Challenge. Along with reduced hand requirements, this'd make for very limited variety in Challenges.

Yes, the tourney lobby is indeed broken. I believe that it was fixed in version 1.6, but that version had a terminal problem so we had to roll it back. I believe that the aim is to fix this again for version 1.8, which will come at the end of this month.
