There is quite some botting going on in micro- and lowstakes Double or Nothing SNGs. I reported some of the bots. Here is my original email (I will leave the screennames as "player1" and "player2" because I think I shall not reveal them (?) not sure) that I wrote a bit over a week ago:
"Hi,
I would like to report the following accounts:
- Player1
- Player2
Both accounts are either bots or are used by the same person (I would more likely assume bots though).
Please freeze both accounts immediatly before they get to withdraw any funds.
Here is the story behind it:
I'm a regular at microstakes\lowstakes Double of Nothing Sit and go's. All other regular players I mark with different colours, based on their play style. During my session, I noticed I have only 2 accounts marked red (based on unnecessarily aggro reg, spewy reg, etc). Because of that, I felt like doing a small research. The 2 accounts are the above two accounts that I am reporting by this email. What I found out that it's pretty much 110% clear evidence something is up, and pretty much clear evidence as well that this is a plain bot or at least the same person playing:
- 2 both accounts are pretty new, Player1 played his first game on 13th July, Player2 played his first game on 15th July
- both accounts play the same games ($1.10 to $5.50 6max DoNs) exclusivly, no other games at all are played
- normally they should, based on these various buy ins of the same game type, meet each other a lot in the games. The truth is, both accounts have not played one single game against each other. eg. both have never registered for one game the other account had been in too
- both have a similar number of games played, and very similar average of games played per day ( Player1 71, Player2 68), they also have a very similar maximum of games played in a day (Player1 125, Player2 122)
- both play very very different from the standard regular Double or Nothing SNG population, a very unusual aggro style, but the stats I have on them (only about 1K hands each) are very, very similar. I'm sure over a bigger sample they would be pretty much exactly the same. For example: Player2 3bet %: 7,17%; Player1 3bet %: 7,19%. VPIP and PFR are very near at each others too.
- I have seen both (Player2 in 2 cases, Player1 in 1 case) do an extremely unnecessary shove. Despite both playing relativly solid ( unnecessarily aggro, but overall solid) I have seen them do unnecessary UTG shoves on the bubble, for example I have seen botkin shove in 1st position with 9 big blinds with T4 Offsuit (programming error of the bot, or just a way, way too wide range for a spot like this, I dont know). This pretty much is what got them the red tag I mentioned. When two accounts seem to be pretty well and both of them happens this, this seems very unusual.
So yes, 110% sure something is up with these accounts, and close to 100% sure both are bots (because for a human this would be very very hard volume to play as well).
Please do something about it.
Regards"
The next day I found another "Reg" of this ring (Player3) with exactly the same stats, same schedule, similar numbers. I reported that account too. What is also noteworthy was that until my email none of the accounts had a day off so far. All accounts are of Russia which is worthy to note as well.
Fast forward a few days, Player2 stopped to play immediatly, while Player1 and Player3 kept on going for about 2 more days. They then stopped for about 48 hours each after. Afterwards, Player1 and Player3 are back in business as of now. Player2 either got banned or managed to cash out (going by party security, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter by now).
Yesterday I grinded some micro 6max DoNs again and saw another new Russian account (a created on 11th August if I remember correctly), same stats, same unnecessary maniac play, same schedule ($1.10-$5.50 6max DoNs exclusivly), and again no games played against either of the other 3 accounts, despite having a few hundred games played already.
I am also 100% certain there is something going on at Fullring DoNs, however I have no clear evidence yet.
In 2013 or 2014 (not totally sure) I also discovered a group of 4 german Bots on stars who played $7-$15 MTSNGs 18-180 mans, and my claim was right, they all got banned immediatly, so I don't just make up such claims.
Cliffs:
- Party knows they have bots but they just don't care
