Wait decades from now before we see the real aftermath of the individuals as well as their families, and how they'll be impacted who had a significant role in "Black Friday" and the rest who remained in power, but choose not to do anything to revert that. There were literally hundreds of thousands impacted, which means at least some will want to seek justice that will bring peace to their soul. Whoever is trying to impose rules upon someone they better understand the type of impact they'll have on others in the long run, and for whatever gains if it was worth it at the end.
A lot over the decade were forced to migrate to different countries and provinces, being forced in the process to be away from their friends, relatives, and families because of these "rules". At the end every rule that's enforced it has a certain cost associated with it. Countries are supposed to bring measures in place that improve jobs and other opportunities for its citizens, but the way it's been with online poker, that's been opposite from where it was decades ago.
More players, bigger pool means more opportunities to earn some revenue from online poker, and at the end when it comes to taxes poker players use the least government services, because they're mostly at home through the days. It was already very hard in Ontario to have a career from online poker with how expensive everything is, and having to compete with others from developing countries that are much cheaper to live. Best case scenario is this doesn't end up like Black Friday, where we can still play in "grey" networks. This is more aimed at networks that have both sports betting and online poker, since sports betting is far more popular in Ontario.
Pokerstars and Partypoker will be out as they're offering sports betting. Online poker in Ontario is not that popular just because of how expensive is to live in that province.
