What do you guys think of the play on carbon? Seems like a lot of regs (I could be wrong). I can't see the average donk just depositing now too much.

Just because you see a lot of regs doesn't mean they're any good.

They were smaller than Merge not even 2 years ago. They grew in spite of not having any rewards because they do so many other things right like not ****ing their players over and paying fast. Had Merge not ****ed up their network and paid in a timely manner they would still be larger. Bovada directly benefited by Merge being ran by greedy morons.

You should know better than to play a shell game with me. I'm talking about Merge's present player pool size, not the player pool from when Lock, BlackChip Poker, RPM, Hero, etc., etc. were all a part of Merge.

Bodog grew as a direct result of expanding into the Asian market.

I think you misunderstood my post. I was simply stating that Bovada was the size of the current Merge player pool not very long ago and they stood pat with not offering many rewards and have more than doubled in size. Rewards are certainly important to hit critical mass, but they aren't the end all be all of gaining traffic. Look at WPN, they have awesome rewards yet no one plays there.

Obviously expanding in Asia was huge for them, but so was converting US players who hated their player model when they switched over at the end of 2011. Many of those US players were Merge players and would have never left had Merge not went full ******.

I've had an account on Bodog for about 8 years and I've never had the trouble finding tables to play on as I do now on Merge. Also when Bodog was smaller, their VIP program was more generous than it is now.

I've been with them for a long time too, but since going to the "Bovada" brand they have not used the same business practices they did when they were "Bodog" for the US. Sigh, now I'm getting all sentimental about the Bodog days, good times.

It's back. And this promotion has been added as well:

If that's the fishy goodness that Kahn was referring to, I'm underwhelmed.

Yeah this sharkweek promotion is awful. The missions promo was way more fish friendly.

They should have a micro, low, medium and high mission promo.

Each day you complete the task you get into the corresponding freeroll ( or two, three, all). If they made it so you had to play 25 raked hands one day or play the Nightly $1, $5, $30, $109 another you'd get entry into the following day's freeroll or varying cash prizes for completing so many of each tier missions.

what are the chances this will cover the overlay? if everyone currently entered re-enters 10x it should just about make it. I guess this passes for a frenzy these days. sunday poker. yay.

carbonOPS looks like a solid schedule. Would like to see a contest for top grinders in the series. AKA points for how well you finish and prizes given out to top players. Just to double check.... Carbon doesn't have a store where you can buy things with points correct or even just mtt tickets?

Carbon really sucks in the fact they don't offer rakeback. I feel they should lower the rake at least to offer some kind of reason for people to join the site. I mean get rid of the bonus offer (which is hard to get 100% anyways) if you are losing money or at least lower it.

You must be new to Merge. They used to do monthly leader boards for MTTs and for their series back when they were awesome. Just another of the many things they've taken away.

They aren't lowering the rake, if anything they'll raise it and make it even more ridiculous.

But leaderboards are less popular now.

Is it possible to hide my "In Progress" SNGs in the lobby?

There used to be an option for that in the Advanced Filter but it's gone now.

Thanks

1 hour left in late registration for the cheeseburger frenzy and they haven't cracked 10k. I don't think they're going to make it. On one hand it's a nice overlay; on the other hand a nice overlay on a $1 tournament isn't that much in terms of $$, and they'll probably never do this again if it tanks.

Just noticed max players is 25K. So it's impossible for the prize pool to be more than 25K. I wonder if they even expected to make it in the first place, given that.

This Dollar Frenzy tournament is nuts. But a fun distraction nonetheless. I don't think a big overlay would stop them from doing it again - it was always going to have one (probably by design). I don't think they promoted it well enough, but for someone that doesn't play a heck of a lot, I'm finding it to be more fun than I've had in a tournament in a while. Just my opinion, anyhow.

EDIT: 13,375 entries with 6 mins late reg left - going to endeavor to find out how many were reloads shortly. (want to see how many actual players they had)

Late reg closed with 10.9k in overlay.

After a quick look at the field there are definitely people who've fired more than 20 bullets. like kingland*n sitting on a better-than-average stack on his 28th bullet. Gogogo.

Just a quick scan through the player list, saw a guy with 32 entries. Hope that's none of you guys.
