Looks like they will have a couple of 99SC "satellites" every week in Dec where 1 in 7 get a seat.
I would assume that whoever makes these decisions thinks that this is somehow better for the recs and worse for the regs. The irony is that this is actually the other way around, because the regs will be paying on average less to enter and the recs will on average be paying more.
Also, doing it this way allows them to rake $63 from every $693 that goes into the pool, which is more than the industry standard for a tournament of that size.
Also also, doing it this way allows everyone to start ITM at the same chip stack which would hurt the stronger players (slightly) and help the weaker players (slightly), especially in a format where it's pretty easy to accidently make the correct play in a lot of spots.
