Yea, I pulled all my money off and was going to deposit via WU so I could have it as a cashout option, and when I called support for the WU information, I asked them if I would have WU as a cashout option they told me I'm eligible even if i deposit with a credit card. Maybe a new policy/problem with checks? Idk but saves on WU depositing fees.

I just received my first check from Bovada, it took 8 business days!, but I can't deposit the check on my phone software so I have to go into my local branch. I had heard previously that there was an issue with tellers and these checks. Is this still the case?

Also how long did it take for the check to clear?

They have a four table limit to protect bad players. This actually isnt a bad idea to a lot of winning players, but lets not get it twisted, it is designed solely to keep you away from the money they themselves intend to take off of bad players. The fact that some winning players that dont mass table enjoy this feature as well is irrelevant to them.

They stopped giving out rakeback.

Next they retroactively changed the RB agreements with those players that already had RB. We have a new RB formula they proclaimed! We wont tell you or affiliates what the formula is, but in general winning players will see a decrease in their RB, and losing recreational players will receive more. This was convenient for them considering most recreational players didnt have RB anyways. Essentially is was just a money grab from winning players.

They removed their points for cash program

They removed their monthly reload bonuses, and all reload bonuses for that matter.

Zero VIP program.

After those changes, the majority of players are left with virtually no RB or RB equivalent. There are some promotions, but they dont amount to much, leaving Bovada with essentially the highest rake of any free market pokersite in the world.

They next made all table anonymous.

They removed all note saving functions from every table.

They removed ability to table select by hiding every full table on their site.

They purposely avoid installing standard trivial software features winning players like such as auto reload.

They do these things under the veil of protecting recreational players, but obviously they are made to try to prevent you from profiting off of bad players so they can themselves take their money through rake or their sportsbook, and at the same time take as much money off of you as they can.

Firstly, how do you really feel?

I remember studying Brice in 07 through some type of absolute hand grabber and the one thing I noticed was that he ran terrible. Disturbingly terrible. He made either 2 or 3 million that year.

I remember watching him on video and he was like, 'yeah you can whine, scream, complain, but let's move on to the constructive part.' He had to figure out a way to make money despite the fact that he ran way worse than any of us normally run. He figured out a way to make money in fl huhu when running bad.

You can complain about the rake or you can move onto the constructive part. For example, bovada creates a bimodal pay distrubution just like lawyers graduating law school. Every player is either excellent or terrible. There are no B students. This is profitable to know.

You have to realize that when full tilt and absolute had all these rake returns that might have been a bad business model. As the past rep Justin said, 'the writing was on the wall' that they were overleveraged.

One might blame the gov't on the current state of poker but the fact is when all is said and done, the reason ft and ap could not pay us is cause they did not have the money. Their business model was not successful enough to pay us.

You need a good business model. If every raked dollar goes into bodog's pocket rather than sliced and diced that might be a good thing. The days of making 300k are probably over (not true if you can work doctor hours). But considering that poker is probably the coolest job in the world and bovada has an excellent business model i'll definitely take a pay cut.

Also,

REQ 4/29

REC 5/8

nice.

Requested a p2p payout 2 weeks ago and just got tracking for a check
I deposited p2p....

My bank takes forever to clear these, 45 days. I'd open another bank account somewhere if they cleared faster, any suggestions? Not many options left in the U.S., love bovada just hate the wait.

the big banks should clear them quickly, especially after the first one or two.

Hello everyone. I have a quick story and update about Bovada's payout service and their customer service in general.

For you that are too lazy to read: req 3/11, rec 3/17, bounced 5/9.

So, I have received around 6 payouts since mid 2012 via check by courier from Bovada. Once I received the check, I have either taken it directly to a branch to deposit, or used the mobile deposit option via my phone. The first few checks I've had almost no problem with, being able to deposit and receiving my funds in a relative short time. Each time I was told by my bank it could take up to 6-8 weeks to receive funds, but each time it was less than a week. Except this last one...

After depositing and not receiving the funds in nearly 8 weeks, I found out the most recent check I received 3/17/13 actually bounced. The check was around ~$1000 USD. The reason the bank gave me was that the account of origin was closed. My bank charged me an $80 bad check fee, and I just received the check back yesterday. 5/10

So I called Bovada, and in my mind I expected quite the uphill climb to resolve this situation. Once I explained the situation, they requested I take a picture of the bad check, and the letter the bank sent explaining the dishonor and the fees. Within 6 hours the payout+payout fee ($50)+bad check fee ($80) were placed back into my account.

Once the money was placed back into my account, they contacted me via email to call them to go over expedited payout methods. I called, and they were able to do a western union money transfer even though I've never deposited using that option. (Seems like you can do this now anyway no?). They also waved the $150 fee that they normally charge. I just requested this today, so the timeline they give me is anywhere from 3-5 days.

So, receiving a bad check after growing a little confidence with Bovada was no good. Some faith was restored after the speedy resolution though and some of the fees they waived. If you remain calm with them they seem to be very helpful. Hope this helps anyone that's had this issue, or helps anyone who is wary of depositing money on Bovada.

Also, stay away from the online blackjack tables!

WU is good if you have that option.

Its risky business trying to cash checks from any poker site as an American because some of them inevitably arent good. I wouldnt recommend it.

For the tl/dr crowd, you left out key info from your summary - that Bovada made good quickly with no hassle.

I agree that WU or MG are the way to go.

As a general rule, check cashing places don't take foreign checks. Without an account, a bank will generally only cash checks drawn on its own accounts - that is, a Chase bank will cash a check drawn on a Chase account, but not one from Wells Fargo.
