Hello everyone. I have a quick story and update about Bovada's payout service and their customer service in general.
For you that are too lazy to read: req 3/11, rec 3/17, bounced 5/9.
So, I have received around 6 payouts since mid 2012 via check by courier from Bovada. Once I received the check, I have either taken it directly to a branch to deposit, or used the mobile deposit option via my phone. The first few checks I've had almost no problem with, being able to deposit and receiving my funds in a relative short time. Each time I was told by my bank it could take up to 6-8 weeks to receive funds, but each time it was less than a week. Except this last one...
After depositing and not receiving the funds in nearly 8 weeks, I found out the most recent check I received 3/17/13 actually bounced. The check was around ~$1000 USD. The reason the bank gave me was that the account of origin was closed. My bank charged me an $80 bad check fee, and I just received the check back yesterday. 5/10
So I called Bovada, and in my mind I expected quite the uphill climb to resolve this situation. Once I explained the situation, they requested I take a picture of the bad check, and the letter the bank sent explaining the dishonor and the fees. Within 6 hours the payout+payout fee ($50)+bad check fee ($80) were placed back into my account.
Once the money was placed back into my account, they contacted me via email to call them to go over expedited payout methods. I called, and they were able to do a western union money transfer even though I've never deposited using that option. (Seems like you can do this now anyway no?). They also waved the $150 fee that they normally charge. I just requested this today, so the timeline they give me is anywhere from 3-5 days.
So, receiving a bad check after growing a little confidence with Bovada was no good. Some faith was restored after the speedy resolution though and some of the fees they waived. If you remain calm with them they seem to be very helpful. Hope this helps anyone that's had this issue, or helps anyone who is wary of depositing money on Bovada.
Also, stay away from the online blackjack tables!
