New to BTC as well. Can someone share why doing Ignition to Coinbase is not being recommended? It seems like a simple option, but I am sure I am missing something. Thanks!

Coinbase is against online gambling due to US regulations. Sending direct to Coinbase makes it easier to trace that your withdrawal is from a gambling website which could result in your account being closed.

Here's how I did it - I transferred Bitcoins from Blockchain to my coinbase Bitcoin wallet. There is no way that I saw to instantly transfer from This coinbase wallet to my U.S. dollar wallet so I clicked on "Get United Stated dollar address," (in the Accounts section of Coinbase) and then sent myself 500 dollars of Bitcoins. After about 20 minutes, my Dollar wallet had about 490 in it.

Did I do this right? It looks like Coinbase charged about 10 dollars to turn bitcoins into dollars. Is there any way around that fee?
Thanks

Also, from what I can see, I'll be charged again when I transfer dollars from Coinbase to my bank. Is this correct?

You can sell the bitcoins yourself on Coinbase's sister site GDAX. You pay like a .03% fee, but you get the market price and not the 3% fee and the lower than market price you get from just using coingbase.

Hmm, I thought Virginia was supported... unless something recently changed. They wouldn't let you sign up for an account at all?

Had to do a small test withdrawal just to see if I could match some of these quick times that have been posted the last few days.

$100 BTC withdrawal

Req: 12/16 at 7:15pm
Rec: 12/16 at 8:00pm

Cash in hand about 20 minutes later via cash back transaction at store.

From request to physical cash in hand in about an hour, with no fees.

Larger withdrawals will likely take a bit longer, my last real withdrawal took about 30 hours. But still, that's pretty good and demonstrates the great job Ignition is doing and why Bitcoin is the best method.

Virgnina is not one of the states listed on their site as supported. I sent an email, since I have a WV drivers license (WV is supported, but I physically live in VA). Let's see what happens.

I was allowed to sign up, but not transact.

Hmm, they posted earlier this year that Virginia was added:

https://twitter.com/coinbase/status/707777468577394689

And looking myself I don't see it listed as one of the states not allowed. I only see Hawaii, Minnesota and Wyoming.

Hopefully it was an error and support will fix it.

Yes. Not long. Yes. (Search this thread. It's all been answered before.)

I just used gdax. No fees and I made a little money having my bitcoin sit. Can you do ignition>blockchain>gdax? Or do you have to do ignition>blockchain>coinbase>gdax?

I go from ignition>mycelium>gliders>bank or ignition>mycelium>Bitcoin ATM depending on how fast I want the money off. This coinbase stuff is too much and they didn't accept chase liquid anymore. Glidera takes a few days to hit bank acct but the fee is negligible.

I just got an email from bitpay telling me to finish setting up my account. When I click the link, they want me to get an EIN number and fill out information on my business.
Is all this necessary just to use their prepaid card?

No, you don't need a business to get the card.

The main thing they do is payment processing for businesses to accept bitcoin as payment. If you clicked to sign up on the front page you may have accidentally signed up for the business account.

So make sure you're signing up on their /Visa page, not the main one.

If you know that you did sign up for the card then I guess it's possible they made a mistake.

Ok, thanks. I see what I did. I signed up for the card, then once I confirmed that it was on its way, I went back to the front page and clicked on, "Accept Bitcoin," thinking I would need to fill this info out in order to load the card. I'll go ahead and ignore all of that.

Since Circle still uses Bitcoin in the background, you are still able to send Bitcoin to your Circle account IF you have access to one of the BTC addresses that is linked to your Circle account. These addresses are any BTC address that you've sent BTC to previously from outside of Circle. Circle will not provide you with these addresses.
So I looked on Blockchain to find my old bitcoin address that Circle sent bitcoin from. Is this the address I want to use to send money back to Circle from Blockchain? Feels weird since I've sent quite a few bitcoin to blockchain from Circle over the past year, and every address Circle has "sent" from is different.......

I smartly did a $15 btc transfer to circle (using the old sender address) and never got it. Lost $15 because this doesn't actually work.

edit: yes it was confirmed already. 6 or 7 times

To all those wondering if BitPay eliminates the need for Circle/Coinbase; this depends upon how you manage your finances and whether you are a withdrawer or a depositor. Circle/Coinbase had the flexibility of being able to both withdraw and deposit funds from your checking account, convert them to bitcoin and back to USD, and send anywhere. Bitpay is only for receiving funds. So assuming all you ever do is withdraw money from Ignition then a Bitpay card is a good option for you. It has a 25k max balance but you can own up to 3 cards, so if you're a high stakes player who makes 6 figures then Bitpay might not be very practical. You were probably used to using Circle to deposit large sums into your checking account all the time.

So bitpay sounds like what I need im sick of the checks it seems like they are taking longer and longer for me to get them now. Not to mention 75 bucks they charge so you would think paying that they would get you the check a little quicker.

Anyhow I tried signing up for the bitpay account and I was gonna buy the visa card for 9.99 but its asking me to pay with it via bitcoin is there no way to buy this card with a debit card or some other option as i have no bitcoins until i cashout from ignition?

Sorry if this question has been asked before first time using bitcoin for anything..

This is a nice summary of two of the options. Probably going to get both routes set up to be safe for now.

Wish I'd seen your first post earlier to warn not to do it, but glad you only risked $15.

When you send bitcoin to an exchange it doesn't stay in the address you sent to. They group everyone's bitcoin together into a large pool.

So when you withdraw from the exchange they pay you with bitcoin from that pool, not an address directly associated with your account.

You have to pay for the card with bitcoin.

You can sign up for an exchange like Coinbase and buy that much with your debit card. I'd recommend buying like $15 worth just to make sure you cover it.

Seems to me that for this to work one would use an address that was generated BY circle to receive funds. So a previously used address to send funds TO circle from blockchain would be used. Not the OPPOSITE, an address generated BY blockchain to receive funds from circle.
