I'm sure you can go pick it up whenever they are open. They aren't sending it back if that's what you're asking.

Well not looking good. Cashier girl at the bank looked at and had a WTF look take over her face.

Then she went in the back and talked to somebody.

Came back out and said they probably wouldn't be able to negotiate this check , and I'd be lucky if they could put it as a "claim" item whatever that means.

She said customer service ladies are at lunch and copied the check , so when they get back from lunch can look at it, and then drilled me with a million questions about the check.

I was like I did some consulting online.

Hopefully I'll get a call back soon with a good answer if not, I'm looking at a worthless piece of paper and I am totally burned.

Talk about ****ty

The bank manager is like I'm pretty sure it is going to come back as FRAUD and your account will be charged if that is the case.

I had an identical experience. I ended up putting a stop order on the check through bodog. Took about a week and they automatically issued a new check that showed up about 3 weeks later. Deposited the second one in the ATM of my bank with no issues. Moral of the story seems to be just throw it in the ATM if you can. If not, good luck.

What would have taken literally 2 minutes at an ATM took an extra month trying to cash it at the affiliate bank.

I've never had a problem with the check you are talking about. I don't know what bank you use but when your a customer, the last thing they should be thinking is fraud. I would just tell them to just deposit the check and put a hold on it until it clears. That specific check clears very quick. Cut out the chatter and deposit your check when you deposit inside the branch, solves a lot of problems.

They are just concerned that it could be a fraudulent check. Related to some type of scam or something. I saw an instance of this on one of those judge shows today. If the atm won't take it you can always put it in the overnight drop box, that is what I have always done.

Tellers always say it's going to take like 2 weeks for these checks to clear, and they always seem to clear the very next day, usually quicker than local checks.

No, the hold comes off, but that doesn't mean the check has actually cleared. The Mrs. worked at a bank for a couple years, and explained all the crap to me. Technically they can only put a hold on a check for so many days, and then they have to release the funds, regardless of whether the other bank has paid or rejected the transaction as of that point.

That's why in other threads, you've heard of people having the hold come off, spending the money, and then the check bouncing. It can and does happen.

If I were taking a check from ANY site to a bank, I'd deposit it, either thru atm or teller and drive off. Then, I wouldn't spend any of the funds for like a week or two. If you need the money that badly to live off of and quickly, you are doing it wrong. Never would I take any check from these sites and straight cash it.

This. i have never had a problem (knock on wood) although one time i was at my parents house in a smaller town and i went to the same bank but it was a small branch and was drilled with some questions. after the 3rd or 4th one i just said if this is a problem i will just go a few blocks down the road to chase and put it in my bank account there. she politely said sorry and put it into my bank account. they always tell me the check is on a 2-5 day hold before i can use the money but it seems to always clear within 48 hours. the main branch i go to is very large and i have been depositing checks like this there for 6 years now and have never had an issue.

I just requested another cash out from Bodog/Bovada and it says right there when you are entering in all of your information along with your requested cash out amount, that when you receive your check YOU NEED TO DEPOSIT IT IN AN ATM.

No wonder it takes over a month to get a check...

I got a letter with the check (not on letterhead of any kind obv just plain piece of paper) instructing the same. Didn't have my name or any sig on it. Pretty odd but I guess they are really trying to get the point across.

Well the letter only says do not cash the check deposit only which is what I did anyway.

Now I have a hard time believing an ATM would take this check when no other machine would at the check cashing places I stopped at that they actually tried and ran it through the machine without looking at it and laughing first.

Even if my bank ATM did take it and it got deposited and it was fraudulent it would still bounce and I"d be in the same exact boat....

They finally let me try to deposit it at my bank(with a 7 day hold), but warned that it seems to be fraudulent and I will be charged a fee for a bounced check.

I will definitely wait until it clears before spending.

I miss using WU wish they would do that for americans.

Requested a payout in mid march, got the check 4/6/12, deposited it today. I'm from Ohio.

Bank lady was asking questions about how long I was overseas, I just told her I sold something online. I think she was just making conversation...

This is the second check I've received from the same overseas bank and the last one cleared with no issues.

Was it from a southeast asian city state made up of islands? and did it look fake as hell? because that's where mine came from and it looked fake as hell.

I ,like most people where I live, use credit unions because no one trusts banks down here. How long did it take to clear{or did you just wait till the hold was taken off and then spend the money}?

I mean it looked similar to a pay check that you would get from a payroll department if you had a job. Last time I just signed the back and they made a phone call or something and told me to wait a minute and then said thanks and I drove off. Pretty much the same drill this time. I'm not sure how long it took to clear because I typically keep a few thousand more than I need in my account, and when I got my statement in the mail it had cleared. They didn't mention a hold or anything though. I'd had a few of my checks held back in november/december, but since they switched to this processor my bank seems like they get some kind of confirmation on the phone while I'm still in the drive through.
