UK’s “Sysinho33” Knocks Out Competition to Become God of the Arena
Sunday’s premiere online tournament on 888poker was the $55 buy-in $1,000,000 GTD God of the Arena Main Event, which was a progressive knockout tournament.
With 12,087 players rebuying 3,066 times, the field enjoyed a healthy overlay. The top 2,000 players got a piece of either the $621,175 regular prize pool or $378,825 bounty pool. Among those to finish in the top 100 were “MrSweets23” (62nd for $621.17 + $422.07 in bounties), “mikeunger” (27th for $1,118.11 + $393.12 in bounties), “wannagamble1” (11th for $2,360.46 + $466.11 in bounties), and “popsnpoker” (3rd for $22,672.88 + $6,278.29 in bounties).
After 12 hours and 48 minutes, the tournament came to an end when the UK’s “Sysinho33” defeated Ireland’s “sully4428” to win the title, $51,815 in prize money, and an additional $12,421 in bounties.
Russia’s Andrey “ifearpanic” Pateychuk Takes Down the Mega Deep
The $215 buy-in, $100K GTD Sunday Mega Deep surpassed its guarantee by drawing 173 players who rebought 173 times. The $105,800 prize pool was paid out to the top 48 players including Mike “Pipedream17” Dietrich (15th - $1,428), “Imyurfriend” (6th - $3,967), Fabricio “DrMiKee” Gonzalez (5th - $5,554), and “Nordynordbrg” (4th - $8,199).
After Sweden’s “backdown8” bowed out in third place for $11,373, the title came down to Argentina’s “SHIGAON770” and Russia’s Andrey “ifearpanic” Pateychuk. It took nearly 12 hours to get the job done, but eventually the Russian claimed victory for $20,366.
Two Players Prove They’re Up for the Sunday Challenge
The $109 buy-in Sunday Challenge drew 217 players who rebought 71 times, which meant the $30,000 prize pool was distributed amongst the top 36 players including “ZDamian” (35th - $225), “tikkapekka” (21st - $255), “funnybunny” (10th - $480), and “alexos888” (6th - $1,350).
After 8 hours and 51 minutes, the title came down to Russia’s “Darya_Kurt” and Malta’s “L0bby0wner22.” The duo opted to work a deal in which the former got the title and $5,336 and the latter second for $5,300.
Sunday Deepstack Monsoon Ends in Heads-Up Deal
The $55 buy-in $10,000 Sunday Deepstack Monsoon attracted 177 players who rebought 46 times. That created a $11,150 prize pool paid out to the top 27 players including “shaplachow” (24th - $111.50), “ghandivan” (9th - $223), “iiiziii” (5th - $669), and “aeon.nOOb” (3rd - $1,310).
After just over eight hours, the final two agreed to a deal in which Belarus’ “mistrJackpot” finished in second place for $1,907 while Sweden’s “1LevelAbove” took the title and $2,219 in prize money. Back in May 2017, the Swede topped a field of 1,000 runners to win the XL Inferno Event #182: $45,000 Sunday Breeze for $9,000.
Lightning 6-Max Strikes Two
The $55 buy-in $5,000 Lightning 6-Max saw 74 players rebuy 28 times in their quest to win a piece of a $5,100 prize pool. Just the final table of nine got paid including Bryan “DePittsterje” Paris (7th - $204), “I_gravas” (4th - $510), and “mistrJackpot” (3rd - $765), who you might recall from above finished second in the Sunday Deepstack Monsoon.
After just under seven hours, the final two players cut a deal and then played it out. In the end, the UK’s “Merfinis” won the title and $1,222 in prize money, while Finland’s “Baistipoika” took second but for a superior $1,328.
What to watch out for:
The 888poker LIVE London is heading to Aspers for a poker festival from November 22 through December 3.
The stop is comprised of 10 events culminating in a £1,100 buy-in, £400K GTD Main Event, which will offer five starting flights and run from Thursday, November 29 through Monday, December 3.
The winner of the Main Event will also claim an 888poker LIVE package for a future festival of his or her choice.
The festival is expected to attract players from across the world, including several making the trek from across the pond including 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Scott Blumstein, 2009 WSOP champ and four-time bracelet winner Joe Cada, 2018 WSOP Main Event runner-up Tony Miles and 3-time (!) winner of the $50K entry WSOP Poker Player’s Championship, a legend of the game – Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi.
