I have an identical situation. this is the reply from Cassava Enterprises Trans@cassava.net:

"Therefore your withdrawal will be processed In USD and MoneyBookers will change it for you to Euros, this way we are not involved in the exchange process.

For further information regarding the exchange rate applied by MoneyBookers, please contact them directly."

So, basically, they blame MB...

It's been discussed before but to reiterate you guys should look to keep your 888/LA money and your ewallet money(Moneybookers) in the same currency and let your bank handle currency exchanges if you're looking for better rates.

After suffering the similar exchange rate rip-off from 888s "comparable wholesale rates" which I think I measured at between 3.5% and 4% loading from the wholesale rate each way! I investigated some options to minimise this.

The best solution I found was to use a UK bank account with a VISA debit card. A couple of UK banks add zero loading and commission charges for foreign currency transactions ("overseas use").

So:
  1. Open a current account with Norwich & Peterborough, Metro, or Santander - see moneysaving expert consumer website for more information
  2. Contact 888 CS and switch your account currency to USD for deposits
  3. Deposit & Withdraw using your new VISA debit card, taking care to select USD currency on withdrawal
  • N.B. You will still be subject to exchange rate spread, but the VISA wholesale rate is very competitive. For example, when I checked my transactions I bought USD at 1.58291 and sold USD at 1.59139 using same day rates. I think this is the best you can get - I make it around 0.5% across deposit & withdrawal

The alternative, already mentioned here is to get a moneybookers USD account - which may need VIP status at Skrill. I guess you'll pay around 2% loading when you deposit into MB but no fees thereafter for withdrawals and re-deposits for monthly reloads. Unsure about these mysterious transaction charges that some people are reporting, but in theory you avoid any exchange fees or spread until you finally withdraw from MB. I'm assuming everyone withdraws someday

This might also be possible with a credit card, but many cards sometimes consider known gambling transactions to be "cash withdrawals" and hence *very* expensive.

Hope you find this useful. Interested to hear if anyone else has found a better way other than switching to Party or Bodog who run your account in home currency and exchange buy-in and cash-out of tables at a prevailing exchange rate with no spread. How hard can that be

i know that and i have!! my LA account in euros(supports comfirmed that before cashout) and my MB is in euros. So they just change $->euro directly on network because you play in $ on 888. They had 72euro(4.5% from whole amount) diference by 888 rates and the rates witch is used for rest of the world this is pure scam by 888 they cant put that on MB and i will be very happy for response from representative.

Moneybooker has a fixed rate for currency exchange.

If you withdraw from your 888 account in $$$ to your MB account in £££/Euros/etc you will be charged a conversion of 1.99%

Any more than that and 888 are taking money they shouldn't.

That's not what the previous poster meant.

EURO --> EURO = 888 Exchange rates apply internally for USD>EUR on your account balance = Bad Times
** You can avoid this on cashout by selecting your withdrawal in USD - then it's as below MB or your bank add their more reasonable fee - unless you can find a fee free local bank account (see my earlier post).

USD --> USD = MB or your local bank rate applies = Good Times.

The currency of your account according to 888 CS is only relevant for deposits as you can choose the withdrawal currency. You should consider changing your account currency to USD so your bank or MB apply their rates on deposit which will likely be much better than 888.

I have been playing on 888 for about a month now and recently tried looking into the amount of rake that I have paid vs. what I would have been paying on other sites. I wasn't able to find any information... maybe this is due to my lack of google skills, but I was hoping that someone could give me a little information.

Basically, what is the rake on 888 compared to other sites like Party Poker and Poker Stars?

Hi, I'm playing the $11 Sat to the Saturday Challenge (tourney 36709558) there is supposed to be a 20 min late registration but it stayed open for 35 mins exactly before closing.

Can you fix this or amend the tourney info if you actually intend to leave it open for that long.

Thanks

they finally admitted they didnt pay me for the jackpot table.

after a long and intensive investigation our technical team has informed us that the bonus of $200 has not been credited on the date we have confirmed.
For an unknown reason the bonus has not been in the account, we are in general unable to see a funds entries if the technical team has done it and only they are able
to see the credited amount. Therefore I have now personally credited your account with the $200 to make sure you are receiving this amount today.

Please accept our apologies and thank you very much for your understanding in this matter.

They are aware of the Late Reg issue and working to resolve it. It's been happening in a few games. I don't know I'd it's a human error while uploading the tourney definitions into the lobby or if it's a software issue. Either way it should be sorted soon if it hasn't been already.

does kinda sucked i had to emailed them 3 times, they kept telling me they paid me.I dropped the issue months ago, but my gut told me otherwise. Good thing i kept close watch of my balance, or else i would of been sol, their words against mine.usually any refund goes into the bonus section of my account. Now since everybody has been paid full amount. Im gonna ask them how much exactly was taken from me from the jackpot tables. Not just an estimate $200 as a loyalty bonus, i guessing i lost more then $200.

Lol... what a joke site... Down again - disconnect every couple minutes... I took a rematch with one guy - cash taken, tournament didnt appear. So I do not have number etc... Waiting for reply - probably will take like 3-4 days and standard 'we didnt notice any issue with your games'... What a crap.

So a while back I posted how I was banned from 888 because a person for whom I still dont know the name deposited money illegally on their site, and then transferred it to my friend, who then transferred it to me. This all occurred before I had even logged into my brand new account.

They banned all 3 of us. However they unbanned my friend, the middle man, who while ignorant of the illegality of the first person is obviously exponentially more at fault than me, given he actually has contact w this person.

Now they wont talk to me though and are just leaving me banned. I honestly wouldnt care that much, except my roommates play on there, and I like the software and the action is great so I would really like to get on there.

Can I please talk to a rep on here or something, because 888 will not respond to my emails and will not take responsibility for a fault on their part.

Thank you

lol wut?!

their support is amazing
