888 took over LuckyAce on Jan 1st. They are basically the exact same poker room.

Also, I noticed that the terms seem to have changed.

For a while earlier today the promo was stating the offer was 20% immediate bonus, but that seems to have disappeared.

It now just mentions $10 immediate bonus, but no mention of minimum qualifying deposit.

I haven't tried either code yet as I'm just finishing off clearing another bonus, but I'd like 888 to confirm what the actual offer is here as I could be tempted to redeposit for the coming weekend
I'll check it out and get back to you, probably Wednesday.
Any news on this?

Issue for you. I recently started out using 888poker (again, it seems). I registered with a new account with all the details etc legit, correct card details etc etc etc.

I get to my fourth deposit (yeah I suck) and I start to finally win some money, some on poker, mainly on the inbuilt casino at roulette. At this point I get a message saying my account is blocked, and I am logged out of the software.

I dont know whats going on, so email back. No reply for 4 days. I eventually ring up 888sports betting and the guy there helpfully explains that I used to have an account which apparently I self excluded last April (2011) for 6 months. I have no reason not to believe him. He was the only helpful person I have spoken to so far.

I receive an email back telling me this from Cassava (who by the way, are possibly the worst support network I have ever encountered, to not have any sort of contact telephone is unreal), who say they have closed my account but "as an act of goodwill" will give me my deposit back.

I am completely gobsmacked, I had absolutely no reason to setup a new account, I literally didnt remember / know I had one from before, or I would have used that.

I stand to lose about 8000 USD as it stands, and I need your help in resolving this.

Given I have not had contact for over 5 days now, I can only assume they are refusing to respond, and thus you are my final port of call before I involve the IGC.

As I say I can verify all of the details I used, it wasnt fraudulent in any way at all.

Hope to speak to you soon.

Regards,

Nick.
Credit to Aaron and the actual 888 support team, this issue is now sorted and my funds have been returned to me.

Just a shame Cassava are so useless at replying.

Again, many thanks, Aaron (888rep).

From what I have seen you seem to be dodging around some of the more important points. Whether deliberately or not I'm not too bothered, I know you are probably a busy man but I would really appreciate if you could take the time to address my questions below.

1. With regards to the jackpot and posting the 50c when sitting out. You say there is an update due out soon to fix this. From what I have read 888 have been saying this for a few months now. The issue seems to have been going on for ages. Why has it not been sorted by now and can you give us a date for when this update will be released?

2. Also RE BBJ.....it has been pointed out that when you sit at a bbj table the post BBJ box is already ticked as default. Some people don't want to play this so why are we having to untick the box ourselves? This is particularly frustrating because A: if we are sitting out waiting for our blinds you are taking the 50c anyway as in point 1 above, and B: when multitabling/loading up more tables at once you don't always have time to untick the box. The logical solution would be to leave it unticked and just give us the option in the popup of posting the bbj contribution as per every other hand when it's unticked.

3. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...9&postcount=31

Can you address this please? Who is working in your support office and why are replying to emails in this fashion? For new and existing customers alike I am sure everyone is thinking wtf is going on here? These are the people that are responsible for hundreds of thousands if not millions of our money. Not very confidence inspiring I am sure you would agree right?

4. Currency conversion.

My first deposit.

What I should have gotten on that day.

Can you explain to me why a deposit of £1550 lost $120 in currency conversion? Why are your rates so different to the market rate? Where is this money that is being skimmed off the top going? Do you think that this is acceptable? I accept that I will take a small hit when converting like I would in a bank, travel agents or with Skrill but almost 13% is outrageous! When I cashout what can I expect to have taken off of me? I don't want hidden fees. I want to know EXACTLY what I will be paying/receiving when I deposit and withdraw.

Now it's not all bad news. I don't want to sound like I am having a go at you. I like the software. Having played on software like Ongame and another couple of small euro sites since ftp shut down I can honestly say that 888 is among the best out there. A lot of sites would kill to have software like yours. I don't really know why it's so difficult for companies to design software and it baffles me when we see sites like BOSS for example and the horrible dated software they have.

My point is that you are already miles ahead of the rest of the market and if you could just address basic things like customer service, faster software updates to fix problems that have been going on for ages and things like currency conversion losses you could easily be number 2 behind pokerstars. Until then though it is really hard for me to honestly recommend to anyone to play here.

I look forward to your answers. Thanks for your time.
Aaron thanks for taking some time to reply to points ITT.

I would really appreciate it if you could even address a couple of my points above.

I know you are super busy but it would be greatly appreciated. As a new player at 888 I would really like some of these points addressed thanks.

You should have no issues with regards to safety. Unfortunately they run support separately though, so any LA questions are best sent directly to LA support.

There are a few LA users here though, more specifically in the Pacific Poker Regulars Thread, who might be handy with LA topics.

"Posting this jackpot rake is unavoidable for the first hand a player sits, even if they are not dealt in."

This is not true. As long as you sit down when a hand is either being dealt or in progress, you can uncheck the post jp box, and you won't have to post any jp. The problem is when you sit down as a hand is being dealt, then it is unavoidable.

When taking a seat at a new table, I have trained myself not to buy in until a hand is in progress. So I never ever post an unwanted jp.

I'll do my best to address the issues. I realize that some of the answers I will give may not be satisfactory or the answers your looking for, but my resources at 888 are not limitless. I'm held to certain info and certain waiting times as well.

I'll try to answer this in two parts:

Why has it not been sorted yet?

888 has always practiced updating their software with larger updates, less frequently. So while it may be common experience on other sites to log in and see a new update 2-3 times a month, that's just not the way 888 chooses to handle their software.

You could ask me why, and I couldn't tell you. Whether it is technological capabilities, financial, marketing, or any other number of factors that relate to business decisions, that has always been their position.

So often times there are bugs in the software, and fixes are created, they just aren't released until the entire update is prepared for launch.

can you give us a date for when this update will be released?

I would love too, but I haven't been given a date. Even if I had been given a date, I would keep it to myself. Too often I've seen projected release dates for updates get pushed back because of testing etc. And I find it very frustrating as a forum member to hear "April 1st Release date" only to have it come out in October.

If I hear that the fix is coming out in the next update, or if I get any info as to a general time to expect the update (which quarter), I'm more than happy to pass that on to you guys.

I would venture to say that when they developed the software for the tables, they assumed most people playing the Jackpot tables would want to be eligible for the Jackpot. So it made sense to default it to "on," if the majority of players were expected to use it.

The logical solution would be to leave it unticked and just give us the option in the popup of posting the bbj contribution as per every other hand when it's unticked.

I agree with you. As it stands now, it makes more sense to have it unchecked. I have brought this up in discussions but haven't heard back whether it's being adopted. I'll follow up.

There has been negative feedback with regards to the jackpot popup as well. With respect to slowing down the overall game. So just relying on that may not be the best solution either.

No idea what was going on with this reply/rep. I can say that nobody views it as an acceptable response, and while the wait times for emails can be slow at times, this kind of reply really is an anomaly.

I was told that the situation was being handled by some higher ups. So beyond that, I don't really have much to add to the issue nor is it really my place.

I have absolutely no involvement in the finance department, so I can't explain what or why rates are what they are on a given day.

When the issue was brought up here, I brought it up with them immediately. I was given a solution to the problem. That solution is to make sure that:

1) Your 888 account is set to USD by sending an email to support@888poker.com and requesting the change. This is necessary as account settings default to that country's official currency. And since there are no US players on the site, EVERYONE should do this.

2) Make sure you are depositing from a USD account. Whether it is a USD bank account or a USD Moneybookers/Skrill. If your transactions are going USD <> USD, you will incur zero exchange rate losses.

^^
Could this be more efficient? Yes.
Could this be more player friendly? Yes.
Do I like it? No.
Can I change it? No.
Will 888 change it? Probably.
When? I don't know.

So the best thing I can do is to make sure you guys know what you need to do to get the cheapest transactions.

I can appreciate how this may look like I've skirted around the issue in the thread. But the truth is I've done all I can and I've explained several times the above method to avoid exchange rate losses. If you guys want to vent your frustrations about the issue I'm more than content to let you do it as your opinions deserve to be heard. I just can't do anything more about it from here.

While there are clearly issues in the software, most if not all are avoidable. This certainly isn't an excuse for not fixing them, but it shouldn't be a reason not to use the software either if there are games on 888 that you think are beatable.

Hopefully I've helped to answer some of the questions or at least provide some clarity.

Good luck at the tables.

Aaron

888Rep, has the free $8 with no clearing requirements promotion expired now?

Dumb question I'm sure has been answered before but I don't play on 888 and I can't see it on the website (only 200% up to $400 with $10 released for every 100 bonus points, etc.) but many affiliate sites still say it exists. Was just curious.

Let me just congratulate 888 for being greedy with no interest whatsoever in the health of the game.

25BB/100 in jackpot contributions at 100NL? Really? REALLY?
That means a fish can literally play 200 hands before losing 1 buyin to the jackpot.
