888rep I have been playing at the site for a week or so now and have been looking at this thread for the last few weeks whilst deciding if I wanted to play there. From what I have seen you seem to be dodging around some of the more important points. Whether deliberately or not I'm not too bothered, I know you are probably a busy man but I would really appreciate if you could take the time to address my questions below.
I'll do my best to address the issues. I realize that some of the answers I will give may not be satisfactory or the answers your looking for, but my resources at 888 are not limitless. I'm held to certain info and certain waiting times as well.

1. With regards to the jackpot and posting the 50c when sitting out. You say there is an update due out soon to fix this. From what I have read 888 have been saying this for a few months now. The issue seems to have been going on for ages. Why has it not been sorted by now and can you give us a date for when this update will be released?
I'll try to answer this in two parts:
Why has it not been sorted yet?
888 has always practiced updating their software with larger updates, less frequently. So while it may be common experience on other sites to log in and see a new update 2-3 times a month, that's just not the way 888 chooses to handle their software.
You could ask me why, and I couldn't tell you. Whether it is technological capabilities, financial, marketing, or any other number of factors that relate to business decisions, that has always been their position.
So often times there are bugs in the software, and fixes are created, they just aren't released until the entire update is prepared for launch.
can you give us a date for when this update will be released?
I would love too, but I haven't been given a date. Even if I had been given a date, I would keep it to myself. Too often I've seen projected release dates for updates get pushed back because of testing etc. And I find it very frustrating as a forum member to hear "April 1st Release date" only to have it come out in October.
If I hear that the fix is coming out in the next update, or if I get any info as to a
general time to expect the update (which quarter), I'm more than happy to pass that on to you guys.

2. Also RE BBJ.....it has been pointed out that when you sit at a bbj table the post BBJ box is already ticked as default. Some people don't want to play this so why are we having to untick the box ourselves? This is particularly frustrating because A: if we are sitting out waiting for our blinds you are taking the 50c anyway as in point 1 above, and B: when multitabling/loading up more tables at once you don't always have time to untick the box. The logical solution would be to leave it unticked and just give us the option in the popup of posting the bbj contribution as per every other hand when it's unticked.
want to play this so why are we having to untick the box ourselves?
I would venture to say that when they developed the software for the tables, they assumed most people playing the Jackpot tables would want to be eligible for the Jackpot. So it made sense to default it to "on," if the majority of players were expected to use it.
The logical solution would be to leave it unticked and just give us the option in the popup of posting the bbj contribution as per every other hand when it's unticked.
I agree with you. As it stands now, it makes more sense to have it unchecked. I have brought this up in discussions but haven't heard back whether it's being adopted. I'll follow up.
There has been negative feedback with regards to the jackpot popup as well. With respect to slowing down the overall game. So just relying on that may not be the best solution either.

3. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...9&postcount=31
Can you address this please? Who is working in your support office and why are replying to emails in this fashion? For new and existing customers alike I am sure everyone is thinking wtf is going on here? These are the people that are responsible for hundreds of thousands if not millions of our money. Not very confidence inspiring I am sure you would agree right?
No idea what was going on with this reply/rep. I can say that nobody views it as an acceptable response, and while the wait times for emails can be slow at times, this kind of reply really is an anomaly.
I was told that the situation was being handled by some higher ups. So beyond that, I don't really have much to add to the issue nor is it really my place.

4. Currency conversion.
Can you explain to me why a deposit of £1550 lost $120 in currency conversion? Why are your rates so different to the market rate? Where is this money that is being skimmed off the top going? Do you think that this is acceptable? I accept that I will take a small hit when converting like I would in a bank, travel agents or with Skrill but almost 13% is outrageous! When I cashout what can I expect to have taken off of me? I don't want hidden fees. I want to know EXACTLY what I will be paying/receiving when I deposit and withdraw.
I have absolutely no involvement in the finance department, so I can't explain what or why rates are what they are on a given day.
When the issue was brought up here, I brought it up with them immediately. I was given a solution to the problem. That solution is to make sure that:
1) Your 888 account is set to USD by sending an email to
support@888poker.com and requesting the change. This is necessary as account settings default to that country's official currency. And since there are no US players on the site, EVERYONE should do this.
2) Make sure you are depositing from a USD account. Whether it is a USD bank account or a USD Moneybookers/Skrill. If your transactions are going USD <> USD, you will incur zero exchange rate losses.
^^
Could this be more efficient? Yes.
Could this be more player friendly? Yes.
Do I like it? No.
Can I change it? No.
Will 888 change it? Probably.
When? I don't know.
So the best thing I can do is to make sure you guys know what you need to do to get the cheapest transactions.
I can appreciate how this may look like I've skirted around the issue in the thread. But the truth is I've done all I can and I've explained several times the above method to avoid exchange rate losses. If you guys want to vent your frustrations about the issue I'm more than content to let you do it as your opinions deserve to be heard. I just can't do anything more about it from here.
While there are clearly issues in the software, most if not all are avoidable. This certainly isn't an excuse for not fixing them, but it shouldn't be a reason not to use the software either if there are games on 888 that you think are beatable.
Hopefully I've helped to answer some of the questions or at least provide some clarity.
Good luck at the tables.
