G`Morning 888,
Since you seem to be very active around here, I was checking through the thread, reading alot of posts (surely not all) and I would like just to add a few things, perhaps things that already got mentioned - I dont expect any answer nor do I want to start any discussion, but I want to describe my past and short "experience" with 888 Poker for also whoever is bored and wants to read opinions.
English is not my first language, but I guess it should be fine for this.
So, Im not a high-roller, Im not even an amateur-player - I play Poker for fun, passing time and trying to have fun, micro-stakes, micro-everything (like your 49 cents - lets win a tshirt - tournaments are funny). I dont use any software to follow hands or whatever people are doing these days, I consider it to be like going to the cinema ... entertainment, and I have no desire to change any of that. I lose 20-30$ a month (max. deposits), fine - and if i somehow should win something having a good run, even better.
Having said that, here is why I think you are giving online poker a bad reputation all the way to the point that theres no fun or entertainment whatsoever.
Your marketing/promotion is everywhere online, and in europe I just need to enter poker on google and you are everywhere - great. Big words and numbers "Sign up, free this and free that and free everything blabla" - so I did, why not...since all is for free and you offer such a nice "bonus" (but i somehow still manage to find a better "bonus" looking for money on the street) ...2 days later I have the feeling Im surrounded by some carny people gang trying just to trick me into depositing money. Im fully aware that other poker companies are also misleading with bonus offers (at least when recreational/for fun clients are reading them) but your business politics are a new level of carny (imo, e.g. Pokerstars appears to be like the unesco compared to you).
Lets start with the 88euro No Deposit Bonus - thats basically false advertising and Im surprised its allowed. Its like I have a phone company and I say free phone for everyone signing up, but actually its not a phone you get... its some sort of a puzzle where most likely I will get a free sticker with a phone on it in the end. Im surprised its possible these days to advertise like that.. there is no 88 euro that will be credited on your account, theres not even one euro, there is some vague chance of something in freerolls, but again, you dont actually say that (yes, im sure, when looking up and reading for 2 hours all of that terms/conditions law blabla, im sure its all explained.. but its not mentioned anywhere on your banners..besides I got nothing, but yea I suck at poker anyway). I guess banner rules on the internet dont follow any law - but even in countries where you obtained a license, im surprised that kind of stuff is allowed to do - I would love to see normal companies doing the same ... "Sign up with skysports an receive a free Jaguar car" - only that the car doesnt exist and you might win a chance to win a ticket for a 45 minutes test drive with a fiat panda)
Even more carny is the way you allow everyone to sign up and deposit, I think I could even sign up my dog, create a skrill account for him and deposit on your site - no problem. No "Cassava" security asking me for anything and Im sure the nice outsourced customer service russians prompting me to deposit money on your site everytime I just click on cashier would have zero problems with my dog. Whats funny is that, I actually deposited like 20$ (no security checks whatsoever), just to try out and have fun ... oh well, so I get this weird bonus options.. i can select one, i take the smallest..later i realise I have to unlock points or something in order to withdraw anything...fine, I didnt really expected to win anyway, but look, the thing is, you throw all that bonus crap at customers with little to no explanation upfront (sure you can say later its the client responsibility to read through that book of terms and conditions spread over I dont know how many links everywhere, but still its more a tactic of exploiting) basically taking their deposits hostage (im talking just for players who play for fun and low stakes, im sure they treat you high-rollers better)...a bonus should be a bonus, like in sportsbetting they usually credit you a FREEBET for some deposit of same amount and its mentioned as a freebet but you are basically lying on the banners as if it would be money on the account (I will not even start with that up to whatever amount mega bonus... playtech is just amazing to watch what they get away with). I believe that most clients would refuse the "bonus" when explained in a normal proper way.
So back to the "experience" ... a day or two later, some russian guy from Cassava Security (i will not mention any names as its unfair to them, i dont believe its fun working there) (his name was russian and his short email was with grammatical mistakes) to explain to him why I played in the 888 Casino logged in from a different country? Say what? I never played in any of their casinos and I also told him to check the account history and to tell me what and where as nothing was showing on mine (I deposited 20$!! and at that time he wrote i was down to like 6$ ... i mean, come on .. ). So my account has been considered to be somewhat dodgy for them and they are looking into it... fine, close it, but no, they dont - I asked the russian guy what the problem is.. you have my phone number, you can call me, you can even visit me if you want (i work for a company that you cant say is not known by name).. you can have the passport copy, no problem... even my skrill account was fully verified and is for years.
So, hes telling me he will get back to me... days pass.. no answer.. micro-rollers are not important anyway i guess.. few days later, i decide to open up again the 888 poker software, was bored and by that time I had zero in the account (what a surprise, i know), so i was thinking to deposit 10$.. but that security talk prior left me questioning what would happen next... anyway, click on cashier and another russian (by name) appears in a live chat box (reminds me of the grim brothers fairytale... come, enter, enter... come... enter, my love.. its all good.. all fine) asking me how much i want to deposit (thanks for asking!) so I tell him about that Cassava email (btw. please do future clients a favor and update your templates, looks like a spam/phishing mail when receiving it first time) and that I would like to know upfront if all is fine and whether its fine to deposit without getting my account suspended afterwards (I wonder if there is an option to deposit money when your account is blocked or suspended, i would guess yes...).... after copy & pasting me the same sentences like "Can I have your username?" (I dont get it, you can contact me in a livechat box without me being able to do anything about it but you dont know my username?) I ask him again the same stuff ... then at some point, I guess he had to check through google translator that there was something other than only "depositing" asked and he told me to wait ... fine, i wait, he comes back and I kid you not, he said something like "we will write to you soon, have a good evening" .. and boom ... out... he left.. i couldnt even reply.. zero... no talk, nothing and theres no way to contact them via live chat again, only when they realize you want to deposit. Just to clarify, I dont mind russian people at all, but its weird that the so-called customer service is using people trying to communicate in a language not their own, cant be that hard today to have people for the respective countries... and no, it was not in english)
Whats carny about that? Well, first off, you dont block the options to deposit, i could still deposit (i didnt in the end), you didnt block my account, you basically said there might be something wrong but you didnt answer anything more. So my thinking is, whatever I do I can only lose....there are many stories of accounts with money suspended and this kind of attitude towards clients gives me a bad feeling about my money .. always the same stories... the experts at cassava security smell something is wrong and because they apparently have more power than europol and obama when it comes to confisticating money, i see only a lose-lose situation - which is part of that experience.
I know many wont agree, many like 888, no problem at all ... that was my opinion, my experience... and no, I dont play with them, that was just a short 20$ entertainment session which quite frankly was not fun overall...
If anyone remembers that frog-faced-character from star wars screaming "ITS A TRAP" .. thats how i feel when i think of 888
Some people always claim poker is rigged and bla, but I actually wonder how much money you people make just by these kind of tactics... its only about depositing, no matter how and what from who etc. etc.. i guess everyone would do the same when having the chance, but thats why 888 for me leaves a bad taste cause I saw it there live - its not like the playtech-bonus mentality never got penalized.. like in the uk lately with ladbrokes.
Do you have an account with all money that was "somehow" deposited but actually never returned due to ....lets say, clients gave up arguing, clients ID photo was sooooo blurry (again and again)... or just by not answering?
Already in this 888 thread there were comments that you are not "acting" towards things pointed out... but im sure you are "escalating" everything ..but then again, whats wrong with the people working there? If you have so many clients that you cant answer emails or fix issues ... stop taking more clients or hire more staff cause by logic it can only get worse and worse, which again reminds me of carny "yes sir, of course sir, we also have flying pinguins, get a ticket and come in" (assuring, smiling and hoping it will be forgotten)
Its not personal, i can imagine its not fun being the "Rep" for them these days, and some cases actually get sorted (cant take it all i guess) Im pretty sure all of these problems/tactics are created by your management.
All the regulars here will most likely disagree or say "nooooooo, blasphemy, not true, they are great and bla" but again, that was how a normal John-Doe-Nobody-****-At-Poker was treated here and there by them.
Hopefully, one day there will be licenses required everywhere and real government regulations and monitoring towards gambling ethics (no please, dont even mention your oecrana or whatever its called self-regulation comedy act) to give clients more power over what is going on and especially protection for their money (yes, that means I dont trust you saying all is fine when you "investigate" something
)
So, that was it, the End - no real harm done back then, but also no new client for you won - yea, i know, i like to ramble
