Yeah definitely always request to get paid BEFORE the session.

I don't have any negative experience with the user you mentioned, but I had one guy scam me and then disappear for more than two months now. I sadly don't have his 2+2 username, as he only contacted me on Discord, but from there on I always request to get paid upfront.

For players who have been consistently getting coached and paid, I don't request this, but I see no reason why it should bother the player to pay upfront. Never had anyone protest this as well.

The aspect of coaching that had the greatest reponse in the past, was a database review where I reviewed your database (50k-100k hands). Out of that review would come a few recorded video's from my part along with a written document. I would like to test this out again with at least a few people that already know the very basics and play a stake like 10nl (don't have to be a clear winner, a BE-player or minor loser is fine aswell)

Database review? This is most often the best way to start a coaching session.
A database analysis which consist of a well structured document with all leaks pointed out. From there I will go into detail regarding your biggest leaks and how to work on it and split it into 4-6 video's; I'll do stuff like reviewing your hands, combined with using software like Flopzilla and PioSolver. Gils made a DB review of my hands. He did a very explicit and well structured review, starting of my major leaks. For that perpuse, he made 4 videos!!, with a recorded live play to demonstrate better the areas to improve. To be honest, i was awared of some leaks (ie low Cbet Flop%,) , but i didn't know how to deal with it. Gils gave me exactly what i am going to do.
In conclusion, he is a coach, with in depth knowledge of the game, with great communication skills. Definitely i recommend him and the price is more than fair!!

I went for the full pack coach, and it is very nice quality, the db review is amazing he can easy identify a lot of spots for you to improve, and he have a very didatic way of explain.

he is a person o like to teach poker, i see in the forum people charging prices like 100$/h, until nl50 its unworted, he makes the full pack Db review and coach for less then that and the quality is garanteed
