Hi, I got a session with Gordon last Monday, and figured I should write a feedback about his coaching after 1 week.
Ok, so I used to be a break-evenish NL50 HU regular. My game was quite solid, but due to massive rake + random spews when I did not know what to do, I could not beat the stake after 1 month of playing and felt very frustrated. And that was when I decided to pay for a coach to fasten my learning process. However, with a miniature bankroll of $1k, I had to be a nit and bumhunted all the coaches I could find, hopefully got a good deal which would worth the money spent.
After getting in touch with Gordon's helper John via email, my first impression is that his service is very professional and well organized. He would send you a long questionnaire to do before the session starts, for don't know what reason because apparently he didn't have time to look through all of them, but they actually made me think a lot about myself, my goals and my own weaknesses. Even though he was hesitant to coach me at first due to large sum of cash I would have to pay (1/4 of my roll), but I was very stubborn and booked a session with him.
During the session, after doing some HH reviews, he quickly pointed out my leaks. But that's not the most important things. He explained to me concepts of poker in a very easy to understand and practical approach. Many of us who watch too many coaching videos would end up mind-fvcking ourselves and over-complicate things. However, Gordon was able to break down poker to me and made me realize that SSNL should be very simple and straightforward.
Just after an one hour session, my poker mindset was redesigned completely (not really but I like big words), and my result improved dramatically. I used to struggle breaking even, waited for the biggest bums to play against, but now I just sit in and 2 table against other regulars comfortably, knowing that I have the knowledge to crush them (not all of them actually, but every single one I have played against so far). Even though I am still a huge non-believer and spew most of the time, I'm now very confident in my pokerability. Well, perhaps there are certain things can't be fixed within 7 days.
Gordon didn't ask me to write him a testimonial, and I know it sucks because more people would learn from him thus making the game harder, but I really think he deserves all the praises ITT. I'll definitely come back for more coaching when my BR allows. And hopefully with this amazingly detailed and passionate review, Gordon would be nice enough to offer me a free coaching session.
