Sounds like zynga might have someone as incompetent as Howard/Jesus in charge.

I was going to post something similar to this, the beginnings of Zynga were insanely shady.

See the thing is, I believe 0.5% of their customers is still a million or more FB accounts.

... because I have seen with my own eyes, it's easier for people to fall for this than you think until you see it happen to people you know irl. The games are engineered to take advantage of how the human mind works, and I have seen intelligent, rational people whom I know to have a history of solid money management spend cash on facebook games.

The demographics that aren't into first person shooters and don't need a PS3 or a 360 to get out their jollies with video games, don't stand a chance... you introduce them to these games and they find one they like (and there's so many to choose from), and they will, at a minimum, spend a few hours a week playing them, and attempt to get all their facebook friends to start playing them too... because invariably, a facebook game gives you great ingame advantages and bonuses if a certain amount of your friends all play it too, compared to if they don't. It's this forced word of mouth and creation of in-game grinding, as others have mentioned, that builds a player base, gets it hooked, and entices it to spend money because it's such a small amount at a time and you're made to feel like an in-game master if you drop a few bucks on it. They sell facebook credits and zynga gift cards in major stores, lol.

What's more of an engineered addiction device, Zynga games or the formulas in modern cigarettes? Tootsie Roll Pop theme plays *CRUNCH* the world may never know

Huh?
CityVille is huge among transgendereds bra.

But seriously, when they have the potential to sell massive amounts of in game advertising I don't think the fact that it's mostly play money is a big deal. Youtube doesn't sell videos either, just advertising.

I'd be happy with just one house a day!

ok FTP is not random for us but Zynga?? You compare them with Zynga because Zynga offers playmoney poker or what? I don't think these companies have anything in common...might as well start comparing FTP with Blizzard Microsoft etc

The games Zynga offers today gives a hint at what online poker or slot machines may be doing in the future. I think Zynga or Facebook could be the largest online poker site. Imagine a poker site that offered 2% rake because they know how to make money selling advertising or virtual items. $10 No Rake weekly tourney with $1M prize pool sponsored by Red Bull.

FTP and Blizzard had a lot more in common than Walmart and Amazon.

What he's trying to say is that a poker-playing website is limited to just poker as a country-specified search engine is limited to one country, whereas Zynga covers all games like Google covers all countries. Not really a hard analogy to crack

Fair point, but in this case, I thnk your "location" says alot, your shortstackin/grabbin for a reason.

This thread has gone a rye, in some ways I didnt expect it too. Its really just a joke on how so many people on 2+2 and FTP all thought there company was soooo valuable, and it really wasn't. Thats the shame in it all. Im a live player, who didnt even fool myself into thinking this site was worth a dime of my money.

Having said that, I do feel for the people that lost heaps, and all that, but I am also needling some of the people who via forums, thought FTP (less then 1 year ago) and all the investments were so worthy.

Maybe you were better off going to 7/11 and buying a $20 (legal) gift card to buy a virtual tractor.
