In that case, sounds like you'll be happy to offer 100:1 for confirmation?

I think this went on for a few months before someone said something.

I prolly butchered the story a bit, feel free to fix it.

Bag was still there when he got to his destination iirc
Ehhh, great stories but I'm going to need confirmation from a 2nd source before I believe them. Let's wait a bit and maybe another poster can confirm hearing these stories.

He is the person that I always wanted to be like in poker. A pleasure to have someone to look up to in the world of poker. A class act and one of the greatest ever.

RIP Chip.

The Biggest Game In Town - A. Alvarez (pg. 40-41)
Quote:
The degree to which Reese fails to think about these things is famous around town. He is rumored to have lost in his own house, every piece of jewelry he has ever owned, and for a period to have paid without question a monthly water bill of two thousand dollars. After some time, the water company discovered the pipe supplying his house had broken and was flooding the area for acres around. Reese himself had not noticed.
Gambling Wizards – Rirchard W. Munchkin (pg. 56)

I came home for a day or two, and now I was going to the airport and I had $200,000 cash in a briefcase. I was running late. I left my house and raced to the airport. I was almost there when I realized I'd left the money at the house. I wasn't that concerned because there were other planes, but I thought, ah, maybe I can make it. I raced back to my house and pulled into the driveway. I jumped out and saw the briefcase sitting on top of my car.

Chip is someone I think we should all look to as an example of how to conduct yourselves at and away from the table. A real gentleman and professional. RIP Chip.

I played comp. Baseball with Chips son Casey. Don't remember too much about Chip except he had an awesome house was always really nice. He treated the other parents on the team as equals and would buy everyone lunch or dinner when we were traveling.

I do remember at a tourny in Orem,_Utah we went into his room to get Casey and Chip and another person were playing some card game and there was a lot of money on the table.

RIP CHIP
RIP CASEY

Hadn't seen this thread before, and though I'm not shocked given his performance elsewhere, it's really disheartening to see Parlay Slow's efforts here. Very consistent with his complete lack of self-awareness in OOT.

someone was asking me about chip reese that there is no much info on him online. I think he would like people to know this so you guys understand how to make a living as a gambler. And he didn't just crush poker he made millions sports betting and he bet big. He was a line mover.

He said the problem with gamblers and the main reason they don't make money is if when they win a little the quit and run. And when they are losing they gamble it all away when they are on tilt trying to win it back. He said the formula is opposite. When your winning bet more and when your losing bet less. He said its how casinos make money. And thats how you make a living as a gambler.

Anyone who says stu ungar was the best is blasphemy. Chip was the biggest winner in high stakes cash games and he would play against anyone at any time in any game. That is what was so impressive about him. That he made more money then any player ever beating the BEST players. he would just wait patiently for them to go on tilt and crush them sometimes up to 3 days until they quit. Nobody made more money then he did in history of live poker at the highest stakes. Thats how great he was as a player. I keep hearing this stu ungar nonsense cause he got lucky in a few mtts. He wasn't even 10th of chip reese skill level.

just saw this. i mentioned another chip story a couple days ago in the tv pros thread..i was railing the 50k at the 2006 wsop ..they played all through the night to get down to a final table..they played perhaps to 6 or 7 in the morning..i stayed whole time..by like 430am there was maybe 15 people total watching..was quiet, could hear all the table talk, etc..doyle was teasing chip that if chip busted he could play a 1500 dollar buyin at noon, lol..they wanted to quit at like 3am but only ivey insisted they play down to final table (which apparently was the original plan at start)..doyle was pissed at ivey lol..anyway during a break at like 5 am chip was right in front if me buying an ice cream sandwich of all things..i joked to him that he'd probably never played poker this late into the night..he laughed..

According to Chip Reese 1970s girlfriend Terry King, Chip was buried in his bathrobe because he liked bathrobes so much...
