Yahoo launches Poker Portal, preparing for legalization? Yahoo launches Poker Portal, preparing for legalization?

In a bold move that seems to get ahead of the curve for legalized poker, the online search engine Yahoo has launched a Texas Hold’em portal on its website. Yahoo is currently advertising its Texas Hold’em poker game directly on its fantasy football webpage — seemingly under the impression that there is a strong overlap between fantasy sports and poker players.

Amaya needs a real competitor to keep them in line. I don't care if its Zynga, Yahoo or Google. You can be sure these internet monsters have the capital/reach to successfully market a new poker site. Obviously not going to happen overnight but it would be nice to see a BIG competitor enter the market.

"growing interest in online poker"? I thought everyone was complaining poker is dying.

In any event, this is welcome news. We definitely need a big competitor to counter Amaya.

Am I missing something? What indicates that they may consider real money in the future?
Yahoo has had free online games for a long time. Are they involved in any real money gambling in sportsbetting or something else?

I read that, but is there any indication by Yahoo that they're moving into real money gaming in the future? That article just reads like his opinion based on the fact that they have play money online.

They currently have fantasy sports you can play for money. There is no way to really know what their plan is for poker, but if it were to become legal they would have a huge advantage over most other companies in the market with their database of users and the money they could spend to build or buy good software.
