Great to read everybody's stories and plans! This will be my 5th WSOP playing more than 12 events and my 8th total.

I'm currently on a crypto downswing that is 6x my largest poker downer, so I'm really hoping for a strong summer in order to avoid whoring myself out for 2019 buyins.

The following is my schedule for the upcoming months. I'm 70% to play the 50k PPC and the 25k PLO, but the PPC is way earlier on in the schedule now, and I'd like to have a clearer idea of how my summer is going and how I'm playing before I commit. The 25k PLO is now a reentry, which I dont love either. They're not on the schedule for now, but unless I'm bricking all and feeling like I'm not playing well I probably give them a shot.

5-30 10k NL Super Turbo Bounty Knockout (3k each KO)
5-31 1.5k O8
6-2 2.5k BAT Mix 1 Reentry
6-3 10k O8
6-4 1.5k Dealers Choice 1 Reentry
6-5 1.5k NL
6-5 1.5k NLSD 1 Reentry
6-6 1.5k HORSE
6-7 10k Dealers Choice
6-8 565 PLO Rebuy
6-9 1.5k 8 Game
6-10 10k 2-7SD
6-11 1.5k S8
6-12 10k HORSE
6-13 1.5k 2-7TD
6-14 1.5k PLO
6-14 1.5k Stud
6-16 1.5k Omaha Mix 1 Reentry
6-18 10k Stud
6-19 2.5k Mixed Big Bet 1 Rentry
6-20 1.5k LHE
6-21 10k 2-7TD
6-22 2.5k OE
6-22 565 PLO Rebuy Online
6-23 10k PLO
6-24 1.5k Razz
6-25 1.5k NL Bounty Knockout ( 500 each KO )
6-26 1.5k PLO8 1 Reentry
6-27 10k Razz
6-29 1k NL Super Turbo Bounty ( 300 each KO )
6-29 10k PLO8
7-1 10k S8
7-2 10k Main Event
7-5 1.5k NL
7-6 1.5k PLO Knockout ( 500 each KO )
7-8 3k PLO 6 Max 1 Reentry
7-9 3k LHE 6max
7-10 1.5k HE
7-11 1k NL
7-12 3k HORSE
7-13 1.5k NL Rebuy

The dream = 5 bracelets, and climb the Razz and PLO leaderboards.

To Wizard-50's post, ideally I prefer structure and routine, but inevitably I find what happens if you're staying through the summer is you start out with diet and exercise on point, but eventually sleep and the way you allocate your mental energy is going to be the most important thing. Exercise is usually the first thing to fall by the wayside in lieu of rest. Breaks also turn from social endeavors into a peaceful opportunity to recharge and get a little fresh air.

Important thing number 2 for me personally is - Do what makes you happy. Whatever is going to be best for morale, I advocate that. Get your sugary drink and eat tacos from time to time. Both times I've had to s*** so bad I left the table mid tourney because of something I ate or drank, I won a bracelet. Don't run to your table from break either, just take your fu*king time and relax. If you want to wear a polar bear suit or a monkey mask because it puts you in a good mood, please do! It's going to be a very very long grind, and being able to tolerate the 4 people to your left tanking 30 seconds before deciding not to 3 bet your open with Q8s every hand is going to be crucial.

Bring something for headaches, and a solid playlist if the mood at the table is poor. I like socializing and keeping things light if I can, but if the situation warrants it, it helps to be prepared.

Lastly, don't be shy to take a creative line with some trash or take your time if you need to, regardless of what anybody might say! It's your money, and your opportunity to take advantage of options your opponents might overlook. Obviously do not try to be slow for the sake of 'balance', but dont rush your decisions if you are a slow thinker like me =)

Can't wait to hear of everyone's successes! Gl!

Very reasonable goal, but I don't think this counts unless you declare your intention.

I am a recreational player from Ireland, treating myself to my second Main Event (I busted Day 1 in 2016).

I'm nothing like consistent or hard-working enough to ever be a pro, but good enough on my good days to make occasional final tables at bigger PokerStars tournaments (eg Sunday 500 or Super Tuesday), and deep runs in some live tournaments. Most of my live experience has been at the PokerStars Festival level, plus many times at the Irish Open (world's funnest tournament).

I am staying in the Aria from 1st - 11th July, obviously planning to miss my flight if the dream comes true. (last time I booked flights and hotel to cover the entire event, and it felt a bit too long) I am feeling optimistic, but have come prepared with a schedule of backup tournaments if I get knocked out, including WSOP 66 ($1500 NL), and various ones at Wynn, Aria and Venetian. In the "Live Poker - Tournament Events" forum, several people have shared really useful schedule summaries of the various series that are taking place alongside the WSOP.

I'm planning to take enough notes for a decent trip report if I last long enough to make it worth reading - I always love reading them, so I think I owe one.

I am trying to work a lot harder on preparation this time, watching all of the coverage of previous years that I can find, especially live stream, and reading a lot of books by pros on their main event in detail (people like Andrew Brokos, Nate Meyvis and Jonathan Little - all excellent).

Nice thread - interesting how WSOP can mean so many different things to different people.

Tell that to my Blockfolio.

It's neat that you gave me my first ever interview, and we're in a WSOP thread RIGHT NOW. xox

Decided last night to go this year. Super pumped. Been every year since 2012 except for 2016

Flying in June 29th plan on the 1k super turbo and the 1k online event that same day. Plan on winning both of those to get double gold, then ship the 888 for my 3rd bracelet. Then finish strong with a main event win.

Busy with some new business ventures so probably will not make it out this year.

That said I hope to bring home the gold in one of the online events from NJ!

This is both so remarkable and so hilarious. Congrats on the bracelets!

This is my first year living on the West Coast so I'm splitting my WSOP into 3 trips this year. Heading out Saturday morning for Colossus and flying back Monday. Driving down Thursday 6/14 from my home near San Jose (possibly staying overnight in Bakersfield), staying until Sunday 6/24 and flying back very early that morning (leaving my car @ the Vegas airport) to play the $2k @ Lucky Chances unless I've made a day 2 I need to stick around for. Then flying back 7/1 for the Main Event which I'm playing for the first time. Other than the main, playing tournaments from $250-1500 around town.

Staying at Rio this weekend ($60/night w no resort fee), the Residence Inn on Dean Martin from 6/14-22 (free w/ Marriott points), Stratosphere 6/22-24 ($50 total for the weekend including fees), and no idea where I'm staying for the Main yet.

Couple random thoughts on the gameplan for this year:

*I'm avoiding cash games altogether. I tried to play a decent amount of 2/5 and a decent amount of 5/10 but the games really weren't that great. I think for those of us that live in markets where 5/10 goes often, you are better off staying at home if you're gonna play cash. Of course, if you're playing 10/20+ the WSOP is your best bet for reliable action. This year, if I have time between tournaments I'm either gonna play SNGs or rest rather than try any cash.

*Excited to stay at the Residence Inn which has a full kitchen. Seriously should make such a difference being able to eat real food at least 1-2 times/day

*I'm sure most of you know this, but if there's a good chance you need to reschedule your flight home due to a Day 2 flying Southwest is the only logical choice. They have no change fees, and I have no idea why they don't advertise this more, it's basically the only reason I fly SWA

*This is the first full year of the WSOP that recreational marijuana is legal. If any of you have struggled with insomnia in the past like I have, it's worth giving this a spin. Sometimes you come home wired after a tournament and it can be tough to sleep; taking a small dosage of an edible should knock this out and get you to bed in 60-90 minutes, with no hangover in the morning.

*Hoping to explore more of the Vegas beer scene which seems to get better every year. Always down to meet up with 2+2ers who enjoy a good craft beer.

First time going. Playing the giant. Staying at the Gold Coast.

Gonna take a quick peek at the ME when it kicks off. A day of railbirding randoms seems super boring, but I want to go down there and check it out for an hour or two since I've never seen it with my own eyes.

Looking forward to it.

I'm coming for my first WSOP Jun 11-18. Just turned 50 and am going to play as many senior events as I can fit in, mixing in some cash or Rio deep stacks if I I bust out early and probably make a visit to Trooper Thursday at the Westgate for some hopefully juicy action. Only definite is the 1k WSOP Senior on the 15th.

Booked the Strat on the cheap and put the extra I would have spent on a hotel on a car rental. No real plans for other entertainment other than restaurant hopping. Having lost 45lb recently I'm looking forward to enjoying some of the gluttony that Vegas can offer, within reason. I won't eat a salad the whole trip.

I too would like to play on Trooper Thursday but Golden Nugget's $370 seniors is on the 14th. Westgate will be "plan B" if I bust out early. I'll have other chances on the 21st or the 28th.

You were right to rent a car. I stayed at the Strat years ago when it was Bob Stupak's Vegas World. Most of the table games were gimmick versions. Both dealer cards up in blackjack but dealer took ties and BJ just paid even money. Crapless craps, where if your initial throw was 12, that was your point. Etc.

It was Super Bowl weekend and they had a tiny sports book with just a handful of available prop bets.

The limited available action forced me away from the property often and I don't think I've ever spent more on cabs in a Vegas weekend. Pretty pricey cab fare to Downtown or to the Strip.

Do your research on parking fees and your rental will have been worth the cost.

Parking research complete. I should have to pay $0 to park for the whole trip. Strat, Rio, Westgate, PH and Venetian are free. Nugget and Wynn validate if you play in a tournament. I also signed up for the Total Rewards Visa card and made a purchase so I can be Platinum status and get free parking at all Caesars properties. The only one I can’t get free is Aria/MGM but if that means parking at PH and hoofing it over then I’m good with that. Thanks and good luck to you as well.
