Don't believe everything you read.

What they mean is "You have to be 21 or older to be allowed in this area".

Such signs"everywhere" are intended something to point to when gaming comes calling, in lieu of actual measures to keep minors out ..... you know, like carding people who are walking in.

Where: Probably staying at Gold Coast entire time. Will be playing multiple WSOP, very probably a tourney or two at Venetian, likely at least one at PH, and possibly a tourney or two downtown, depending on the schedules and how I do.

What: All tourneys, mostly PLO8, the Mixed O8... NLO8, Big O, Mixed PLO if offered while I'm there... probably PLO... possibly FLO8, OE, Stud 8.

How Much: Too much, of course!

6/1-6/6: 1.5k O8, online event, 10k O8, tag team, 1.5k nlh

6/19-6/22: 1k nlh, 1k turbo bounty, 1.5k stud 8, 1.5k plo, 1.5k shootout

6/28- 10k plo, 2.5k O8/stud8, 1.5k nlh

Probably staying at Marriott or Wyndham. Somewhere decent with kitchen and that doesn't smell like weed.

June 12-20, staying at the RIO and plan to play the daily deep stack tournaments. Sure the RIO blows but when you play to pretty much poker 24/7 it's pretty convienent. Am I the only one who comes out specifically for these? If I have any luck in the dailies I may parlay into a bracelet event or two as I've done other years. GL everyone!

I've been going since 2010 for about 9 days. I'll fly in EDC weekend and leave the following Monday.

I'll play at most 2 1.5K NLH events for fun. I have cashed an event the last 4 years, which is a small victory for somebody that doesn't really play tourneys.

I'll play cash for the rest of the time (12+ hours per day), usually 1/2 at the V as I stay at the Palazzo. Though I may just get my hours for poker rate in and try some Aria this year. I may even jump in some 2/5 games well.

I was out there last year and made a final table in one of the 1k events. Even though it was the run of a lifetime it was truly devastating having to walk away without the bracelet after making it so far. I will be out there again this summer to play a few events and hopefully can make another deep run.

Probably, they are largely regarded as too turbo and crapshoots when the real $$ jumps are happening.

Sounds pretty standard for any live low stakes donkament to me. Looking forward to it. The field sizes are usually pretty massive. If I recall the past couple years it was a 2:30 or 3pm $235 DS that kicked off, looks like that's been moved up to 2pm this year. Nice.

Deep Stack No-Limit Hold'em Tournaments Every Day May 30 - July 17 (Note new times, additional event)

$235 Buy-In No-Limit Hold'em tournaments at 2 PM.
$185 Buy-In No-Limit Hold'em tournaments at 5 PM.
$365 Buy-In No-Limit Hold'em tournaments at 7 PM. Accelerated Format.
$135 Buy-In No-Limit Hold'em tournaments at 9 PM.

Bought a 3 bedroom condo just north of Red Rock casino five years ago for $68K cash. Rents for $1K a month, though I give discount to poker dealer friend renting it and taking care of other places for me. $160 a month HOA less than $700 a year taxes.

Putting an offer in today on exact same condo for $110K-- it is offered for $125. Will probably end up paying $115. I've bought another at $80K also. Weirdly there is a little dip back down in 2017 upper big upswing late 2016.

I've been trying to get to grips with exactly how soft the WSOP actually is as I'm seriously contemplating making a trip this year from Europe exclusively for poker. What I've been told to date just adds to the temptation but I also find it incredibly hard to believe. I'm directly quoting a player I was talking to recently who told me 'The standard of the 10k Main is significantly worse than a standard online $10 mtt.'

I still find this incredibly hard to believe but have heard it said before. Can people with both recent online experience and WSOP experience clarify their opinions? Additionally, is the Main softer/tougher/equal to the 1k/1.5k's and again can these be compared to anything online?

Would really help in making my decision as nothing's booked yet.

2015 was my first WSOP trip. I didn't play any bracelet events due to some poor bankroll decisions on day 1 in a $5/5/10/25 PLO game at the Rio. Went through 5 buy ins for session #1 and that put a serious cramp on my MTT schedule. Fought back and made day 2 of the 1st Aria WPT during mid June so I came back to Vegas July for that and ran it up to 54th place for like $7k and a small summer saver. Stayed at the Rio on a friends comps that was ideal to be just an elevator and small walk to the action. I stayed at the Aria for the July WPT day 2 as WPT players got a cheap room and its ****** nice!.

June 2016 was a little better. Buddy of mine rented a condo at Palms Place for the month about $3k total and more comps at Rio for the free roll summer. Made day 2 of the Colossus with a healthy stack and ran it up to almost a Milly chips before the AKhh vs QQ on the J 10 Xhh flop bust out in 135th...GG again Stokey for another $7k in a $500 event.

I found my self camped out in the $1/$3 Big O games at the Rio while not playing tourneys. Seems like the softest game I could find where playing tight as *** while the gamblers spew $500 buy-ins off into the universe. Had may days in June '16 where I would do a morning sesh $500 into $1500 and cash out Lunch + Walmart runs, then afternoon session rinse and repeat. Ended up playing the Milly Maker, $1500 6-max and The $1100 at venetian all without a cash but paid for by Big O games. Left Vegas with alot more $,$$$ than I came with.

Went back down in July '16 for a satty to the Main run with a buddy to try for Main Seats. Played a single $550 mega and my wife back home in WA state went to hospital with early pregnancy issues so I had to abandon the 2016 dream for family after just 1 day in town. However my buddy the "King" did play a $1k single table satty for "us" and won it for the $10k seat. He did bust few big names along the way but fell just short of the money in the Main. I really appreciated him playing his way in while I still had 50% of someone during some long hours in the hospital with Mama. Fast forward to now baby is great and all family is well looking to 2017 now.

This year for 2017 Ill take several trips down. Same buddy same condo at Palms Place and some more Rio Comps. Work and family obligations make my Vegas trips thurs-mon. In previous years I would drive (16hrs) and stay for 12-20 days. This year i'll be flying and going 3x Thurs-mon in June. Colossus Weekend, Monster Stack Weekend and the $500PLO and Giant, Milly Maker weekend also looks like selections. Building $10k in Lammers is the Goal so I can come back a 4th time in 2017 for the Main. Lets go Grinders. See you in the Cash Out/Diamond Reg Line!!!

Don't know your bankroll or "Plan B" situation, but will put in my 2 cents worth. I won a $12.5k Main Event package several years ago on Pokerstars. I didn't want to spend $10K on a single tournament so I ended up selling 90% of myself in order to play the Main and have a back-up bankroll in case I didn't cash.

I didn't cash, but that $9k I'd put in my pocket enabled me to stay busy for the rest of the trip.

When planning to play the Main you have to book room and flight based on a 10 day stay or so. If you bust on day 1,2, or 3 and don't cash, you've still got several days in Vegas to kill. If you have a "Plan B" bankroll, no problem. Lots of other tournies and cash games to play. But if your $10K main event buy-in is most of your roll, I would recommend splitting it up into several $1K-$1500 tournies or satellites.

Tournament poker is a numbers game and I'd rather have several small bites at the apple than one large one. Being in Vegas during the WSOP with no bankroll really sucks. Then again, there is some value in checking the Main Event off your bucket list.

Good luck whichever way you decide to go.

The main being softer than a $10 online MTT is a bit of an exaggeration in my opinion. There are certainly a lot of soft spots but also all the top players are playing. Table draw can make a big difference in how soft it will be. Having to play for several days will give you a lot of spots against donks trying to give away their chips but also present a lot of landmines to avoid against experienced grinders.

I would say the $1k/$1.5k's are certainly softer overall than the Main as far as poker talent and play closer to an online $10 MTT. More recreational players have $1000 to spew off than $10,000. In addition, the structure difference is huge. Starting with only 5000 chips doesn't allow for too many coolers or bad beats. It's a lot easier to get all your chips in early in a $1K than in the Main. At least in the Main you can take a hit or two to your stack and still have a playable stack.

Good luck if you decide to make the trip.

I'm not sure it's "too" turbo, but obviously with a relatively low entry fee and paying out so many people, decent prize money isn't there until the FT. The really good money is only in the top 5. Paying out 15% only makes it worse.

Hopefully going for around 10 days, late May/early June-ish. Want to play the Colossus and stay through the Milly Maker ideally. Also play some dailies and whatever low buy-ins are happening at PHo/Venetian etc.

Likely stay in a CET property as that's where I have most comps, whichever is cheapest, either Rio or Harrah's no doubt.

Yes but like the earlier poster said it's no problem for 18 year olds to walk around and sweat the tournaments - they won't be ID'd if they come through the back entrance.

The WSOP remains the only significant tournament with good events other than NL Hold'em. You can still play in a million dollar Limit Hold'em event, as well as many other great tournaments in various forms of poker. You don't have to be exclusively a NL player to have a good time here.

On the flip side, where else will you find a $1,000 NL event with a purse exceeding $4,000,000? It happens here! You can make a nice score without ever playing in the big one. The general public is only aware of the main event and what I like to point out to people is that there are million dollar tournaments happening every day!

absolutely no shot if you plan on staying for more than a day or two, add another zero and you might be better rolled
