Rumored to be moving to new Caesars convention center when it opens.

Source is very knowledgeable about Vegas and always gets scoops well before the Vegas print media.

Love the location where the CCC will be. Right behind Linq, Harrah's & Flamingo. Will be sweet to stay on the strip and be so close to the WSOP

The 2020 WSOP Main Event winner will be a landmark winner. First on the Las Vegas Strip. End/beginning of decade. Extreme never before witnessed fanfare. 50th year anniversary.

Johnny Moss was first. Hachem gets forgotten for being first at the Rio. 2020 champ will be historic like Moss. Next landmark winner will be the 100th year anniversary winner in 2070.

1,100 new parking spaces (800 of which underground).

As for the ballroom in which the WSOP could be held, why am I picturing something similar to the recent Venetian Deepstack tournament location?

The WSOP moving to Caesars Palace is a rumor I first heard around 2006.

That's not where it is going. A new Ceasars Convention Center behind Linq/Flamingo where there is an empty lot used for parking currently.

If by "Extreme never before witnessed fanfare" you mean something Lon and Norm will chat about for a few minutes during the broadcasts, I totally agree.

Actually, next year will be WSOP 50 if I'm not mistaken.

Expecting a $50k and other themed events.

They should do a "World Series of $50".

Dealer tryouts for the WSOP for a couple weeks leading up to it. Minimum wage + tip dealers get selected by ability of hands per hour. If you call floorman or ask for a setup a lot they'll actually fire the dealer.

Maximum $50 buyin cash game $1/$2 with fixed seating. Novelty bracelet awarded each day to the player that cashes the most as well as like a $1500 buyin or something. Smoking at the table allowed. Button may ask the dealer to bank and deal a hand of blackjack $50 maximum once per down.

Except they are removing tons of parking spaces for the new convention center. Probably not the end of the world, but this would mean a lot more locals would need to traverse the strip to get to the WSOP.

I say this somewhat sarcastically but in theory that monorail would have easy access to that location.

This means that all of these hotels have monorail access to the Caesar's WSOP:

Hooter's, Motel 6 (next to Hooter's), Tropicana, MGM Grand, Bally's, Westgate, Embassy Suites.

Of course, there are many within walking distance.

Superior dream come true location.

I haven't checked on the dates, but if one of you is right, you both are. When you have annual events, the 50th one is always followed by the 50 year anniversary the next year - giving the opportunity for "50" celebrations two years in a row!

Yeah, something isn't really forgotten when no one cared enough to remember in the first place.

That's because Hachem wasn't the first to win at the Rio. Hachem won his WSOP Main Event Title at Binions Horseshoe.

Jamie Gold was the first winner to play the Main Event, including final table, at the Rio.

Also pair this rumor with the rumor that is floating around that CET is actively trying to sell the Rio, and it makes sense.

I'll still be over here beating my drum that they should convert all that dead space at the back of Bally's and re-brand it to the WSOP Hotel and Casino.

CET has been trying to sell Rio for years, not exactly a new rumor. It's just one reason why Rio has become kind of a dump with deferred maintenance everywhere you look.

The source you are quoting went on record a few years ago saying that MGM had sold the Mirage. He said it was a "done deal." This source regularly throws a whole bunch of things against the wall and yes, some of them do end up sticking.

Rumors about the Rio being sold and WSOP moving have been going on for 10+ years now.

Nothing to see here, move on.
