It was a slow day for me today, so I decided to waste a few hours compiling some statistics on some WSOP players. I used the $25K Fantasy League to generate the player list to be analyzed. While this list may not necessarily represent the “top 88” tournament players, it is unquestionably a strong group of tournament players. I included all WSOP events in the data, with the exception of the $1MM One-Drop Event (that tourney seemed like a “one-off exhibition”, rather than a tournament for the general player pool, so I did not include it). I’ll leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions about what the results indicate about tournament play, but here are a few interesting highlights:

• Overall Combined ROI: 24.11%
• 26 players profitable for the series, 62 unprofitable
• Most events played: 48, George Lind (also with the biggest loss, -$203,020)
• Most Cashes: 9, Joe Tehan (overall series loss of $13,900)
• Most Event Played without a cash: 24, Alexander Kostritsyn
• Highest Cash Percentage: 60%, Daniel Alaei (6 of 10)

Combined Buy-Ins: $10,749,000
Combined Cashes: $13,340,230

Disclaimer: I used the wsopdb.com website for tournament buy in data, and thehendonmob.com player database for cashing results. I compiled the data quickly by hand, so it’s possible some minor errors may have occurred. Enjoy!

Combined Buy-Ins: $10,749,000
Combined Cashes: $13,340,230

To correct my page 1 post of highlights:

• Most Cashes: 9, Joe Tehan (overall series loss of $16,400)
• Most Event Played without a cash: 13, Sam Trickett*
• Highest Cash Percentage: 36.4%, David ODB Baker (8 of 22)

* - did cash in the One-Drop

The $1million Deeb won needs to count especially considering the caliber of the field and that it was "only" $25k. Also a few of those people cashed in main big, Paul Volpe for one.

I thought Kostritsyn sat out the entire world series as he just had a kid. I'd be shocked if that number of events/buy-ins is close to accurate. I thought he was closer to 0 events played.

This list shows number of events played on it.

Since we are already off by over 300K in lossses just on Sabic and Kostritsyn alone, maybe we should delete this thread and post it again when the numbers are somewhat accurate.

wow...that can only mean you are an extremely bad player to lose that much and not even be in vegas during WSOP...either that or hacked account, but both make perfect sense!

Any chance we can get this list over a 10y span?

This would be wonderful if we could make the size so large that we could prove the profitability.

Is the any way we can get all the buy ins and names in some sort of spread sheet?

Sorry for the previous errors on Volpe, Sabic and Kostritsyn. My bad. Volpe just cashed in the Main, and Sabic and K. didn't play in 2012. I have updated the spreadsheet. Hopefully that was it..

Mods: i'm past the 30 minute edit allowance, so if you can change the title to reflect the new 30.65% ROI and move the new chart to the front, feel free..

Shannon Shorr now best player not to have a bracelet? Really, how many people have the live earnings of this guy with so little hype? The guy also has very nice online MTT earnings.

The One Drop winnings appear to not have been included.

For example: PH.

Doubt it was just the $132k loss at WSOP. Most online super stars who are backed are in make up for significantly more, having played all year and not cashed. It's probably his bad, family, kid, and general frustration more than the losses at WSOP.
