This level of hyperbole has become the norm for online discussion, and it's so wrong.

Nobody is "tired", 1-2 people were yawning a little bit

How well will that work when your event ends at 2AM? You then have to wait to get on a bus?

I get that the WSOP experience may well be better for tourists. I can assure you that for locals, none of the things that have been mentioned will make it 'better'.

I am optimistic that the change in venue will only add 30 minutes to my total commute. I suspect it will be worse.

well you could just get a room and stay on the strip like all us tourists do. Its fun. They have room service and people handing out pictures of very pretty girls on the street. FOR FREE. wtf... only in Vegas

I had zero energy experience at the RIO this year. The place was lifeless.

Do you think the WSOP cares about locals who focus on getting in and out of the location as easy as possible?

Sounds like the poker equivalent of somebody playing penny slots without doing any of the food/entertainment stuff that are the cash cows these days.

No, I do not think the WSOP cares about locals, and that is fine. Just countering an earlier post which stated the B/P will be thousands of percent better.

While it may well be better for the rest of the world, the locals population will not think it is.

Fair enough. Bally's will most likely be a huge improvement for tourists but probably worse in some areas for locals.

30 minutes longer Rio vs Ballys?

Do you drive down Las Vegas Blvd to get to any Strip Casino or something? Most locals I know are aware of the "back roads" that significantly cut the travel time.

1. That number was round trip.
2. That number includes time from car to venue.
3. Yes, I do know about back roads, and I won't be driving 'down the strip'

So you'd prefer 30 minutes to more rec players?

Remember, most of those recs who come to Vegas for the WSOP stay on the strip and also spent 30 minutes getting to and from the Rio each day.
But hey, you DGAF about anyone other than yourself.

So you’re willing to go play poker tournaments for 12 hours/day but the chance of, maybe, adding 15 minutes to the front and back end of your day is enough to say f**k it, I’m out. Lol!

If you live west of The Strip, you're adding 8 minutes to your commute (thanks, google maps!) But on the other hand, if you live east of The Strip, you might be saving the same amount. Even Steven.

Having the WSOP on the strip is so +EV for people from out of town and for Caesars, that it makes a 15 (or 30 even) additional commute for some a drop in the bucket. Once again, how many trips do guests at the rio have to take to the strip to escape that shitbox? Once again, even steven.

You guys may be right. Yes, I have acknowledged that while this is worse for me, it might be better for others. I hope you are right; I hope attendance soars, more tourists come, and parking is somehow much less of a hassle than I anticipate it to be.

See you in 2022.

$200 at excal. I dont think so. more like $20
I hope you are right that it wont bump but I just dont see how this is so. but its not like I know what im talking about. I do think we will see a price increase tho, nobody will stay in the stratosphere or off strip if its in ballys.

I actually thought vegas is most alive when the wsop is in town? thinking that and any other summer convention going on

I am a local and I 100% disagree with you.

You should stop assuming other locals will share your opinion.

This venue change will indeed make the wsop better and parking will not be an issue.

You can stay at Bellagio or hell stay at the Wynn.

My hope is that they tear down the Rio, put a nice, new casino there, and bring back the WSOP to its best physical location in Las Vegas. Maybe by 2025 that will all come to pass...
Or better yet, they could just move the WSOP out of Vegas altogether and you can stay in a hotel room like everyone else.

I hope you are right. Having been to conventions at Bally’s the parking is not as easy as the Rio. Unless they have somehow improved it, I am 100 percent sure I am correct in this regard.

I didn’t mean to speak for all locals. Sorry, if I was misunderstood in that regard.

I disagree with this. While I agree there will be a bump in price, Stratosphere will still have plenty of people on a budget staying there.

Personally, I get free rooms at Red Rock and love it there so I’ll continue to stay off strip where I can relax in a very nice hotel away from the hustle and bustle. Alright, maybe a little hustle and slight bustle but not too hustley or bustley.

People stay at the Stratosphere for the WSOP at the RIO, I don't see a reason why they can't stay at the Stratosphere for the WSOP at Bally's.

I'd like to see data on who attends Raiders home games. My best guess is that from at least half the NFL markets the number of people traveling to LV for a game is higher than the number of visitors for the WSOP on any given day. I have a hard time seeing hotel room rates at any Strip property outside of Bally's and Paris skyrocket because the WSOP is at Bally's now.

This is much better for a casual/recreational player like me (who is flying in from out of town). When I take a solo trip to Vegas, I do not rent a car.
