WSOP Moving from the Rio! WSOP Moving from the Rio!

It also just makes it more of a singular event and more impactful to anyone that's on the strip.

During the WSOP there are poker players throughout the strip but the core of the event is hidden away in that far off back alley that is the Rio. Now the World Series of Poker will be front and center. One won't be able to go through the center of the Vegas Strip without running into a bajillion poker players.

To me this is a cash player's dreams having the WSOP so close to the Bellagio plus all the cash games that run up and down the strip during the WSOP. This could also increase the number of recreationals in events/games. People that aren't even in town for the World Series of Poker are going to have a hard time avoiding the WSOP if they go through the center strip. It could turn the WSOP into more of a spectacle too depending on how the WSOP and Caesars set it up.

All this...

Hopefully, the cash game spaces will be endless, if not, they'll need to have Bally's, Flamingo, etc. to have rooms open for cash games. If you're staying on the strip, this is going to be amazing. Can see it being annoying if you're local or staying off the strip, but I won't have to worry about that! I already booked my room at Planet Hollywood for July. LFG

I don't think the cash games at the WSOP are limited by space, so much as dealers.

One way to look at this: Say the WSOP brings in 10,000 players, not counting locals, at any given time (this number might be way off, but stay with me). Say that 5000 are playing on a given Thursday afternoon. The city as a whole would need an extra 555 dealers. I know that dealers do come from out of town, but I don't think we get 1 traveling dealer for every 9 players. That is why the cash game lines are off the charts during WSOP.

I'll never understand why it took them so long to move it to the strip. As far as the Rio is concerned, may as well just roll up the carpets an close the doors. Ratty rooms, PITA to get back and forth to.

Because Caesar's owned both the WSOP and Rio and the latter had sufficient empty convention space to accommodate the series.

The WSOP was the only extended period of time where the Rio was busy.

That explains it, thank you.

It will be so much nicer to have it on the strip.

My first trip to the Rio wasn't as bad as I had expected. Parking was not a big problem, nor was entrance/egress to the parking lot. The big choke point I see going forward is that there are only a few parking ticket machines. If you bag at the end of the night, there might be a queue to get to one of the 4(?)machines.

In 2019, 3647 players bagged 1C of the Main. Say 10% of those have a car. That's close to 100 people per machine. That could be ugly, but I won't see it, since if I do play the Main, it won't be the busiest day.
