Adam Bilzerian Doubles Through Joel Patchell

Joel Patchell opened for 45,000 from early position and got two callers, including Adam Bilzerian in the big blind. The flop came down {6-Hearts} {5-Spades} {2-Clubs} and the action was checked to Patchell, who bet 90,000. One fold, and the action was back on Bilzerian, who raised to 245,000.

After a bit of a think, Patchell moved all in, having Bilzerian covered. Bilzerian tanked for several minutes before finally calling all in.

Bilzarian showed {4-Spades} {5-Hearts} for middle pair and a straight draw.

"I got nothing," said Patchell as he turned over {9-Spades}.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, the river was the {K-Spades} and Bilzerian doubled up to 2.25 million.
he only held 1 card?

I guess Begleiter would point to the two flush draws on the board at the turn to argue it could have been a semi-bluff, but it's hard to think of many hands his opponent could have that he could be ahead of at that point. I suppose ace-rag suited or something like that, but there aren't many. Folding the aces on the turn was clearly proper given the stack sizes.

And he got another chance on the river because nothing changed. His opponent is not going to play 2 pair/set that way. So he is a donkey. CONFIRMED.

"maybe i should start giving him a little bit more credit then i am"

- not much difference between the two statements, but if that constitutes a massive U-turn and being "made somebodies bitch" on a forum, fair enough

Seems like an obvious call by the other player, but he had been holding his cards in such a way that it was hard to tell whether he had 1, 2, or even 3 cards. He must have picked up on something that told him his opponent only had 1 card. Great instincts.

SO many of these players are idiots.

No wonder Dennis Phillips is doing well. He's not a great player, but he's not ******ed, and "Don't Be ******ed" seems to be all you really need to have a good chance at a deep run in this ridiculous event.

That is all.
07-13-2009 , 05:14 PM
Don't be ******ed and don't get coolered is a pretty good recipe for success in any live tournament.
07-13-2009 , 05:15 PM
^ same for internet tournaments. Most internet players are complete ******s.

Palovic Won't Put Even One More Chip in the Pot

A very curious hand just developed between Marc McLaughlin and Dag Palovic. There was some preflop action that ended with Palovic raising to 125,000 from the small blind and McLaughlin calling. Palovic was first to act after a flop of {10-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} and bet 125,000. McLaughlin called that bet and called another 175,000 on the {10-Diamonds} turn.

The river fell {K-Hearts}. Palovic still had first action and made the price of poker 385,000. McLaughin then moved all in for 420,000 total just 35,000 chips back to Palovic. With more than 1.65 million chips already in the pot, Palovic elected to fold rather than call the last 35,000.

Palovic is down to 940,000. McLaughlin is up to 1.7 million

Serock Takes Big Hit, Saout Rises

There was a monstrous pot just before the break between Joe Serock and Antoine Saout. We caught the action as Serock was contemplating calling the last of what appeared to be several bets before the flop, finally doing so with {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} only to see Saout turn over {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. The pot exceeded 3 million.

The board came {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, and Serock tumbles all of the way down to 180,000. Meanwhile, Saout leaps up to 3.26 million.
