it seems like the last few years a disproportionate amount of recent main event champions [or "november 9 chipleader" dennis phillips] have gone deep in following year main events. i'm guessing it has to do with them getting paid off more by donks who think they're always bluffing.
if you listen to dennis phillips talk or watched him play on TV last year, it's pretty difficult to conclude that he's a good player.

Interesting theory on them getting paid off by donks, I always find online if i have a particuarly good experience with a tournament I tend to run better again when i replay that event then when i replay tournaments i've traditionally had bad experiences with (not sure what this is called.)
