If Dennis Phillips wins the ME I will immediately become an hero.

i see the big names getting cut in half today

Are these table drawings totally random? It sucks that all the big name pros are at the same tables; this will decrease the chances that one of them will make the final table.

If 10% of those turned away wandered off into the pits, then it was very +EV for the house.

And the comparative lack of interest in Eastgate's run is a pretty good indication of how little an impact he's had over the past year (well, eight months).

Respectable performance by Owen Crowe, didn't he quietly go quite deep last year?

Eugene Katchalov got a lot of chips and his table looks pretty soft (well it probably isn't soft i just didnt recognise any of the names.) Half tempted to say he could be chip leader at this point tomorrow.

Hac Dang Vs Blair Hinkle another nice little match up that has floated under the radar abit.

A few things:

- Re coverage or lack thereof for Eastgate and others, there are two ways to get coverage: a.) huge pots and b.) douchebaggery. You won't be hearing much about players who don't fall into one of those two categories, even if they are known pros. Plus some of those players are at the featured tables where online reporting is limited.

- Re Ivey vs other pros, the way to get to the final table or to win the bracelet is to find edges, and why on earth would you take on another world-class pro for an edge that's usually tiny, when you can find big edges vs the random donks?

- Top 185 two years in a row really isn't much of an achievement. Top 27 is where things will get interesting, a la Raymer, or Harrington of course.

a win/final table followed by top 185 the year after is pretty good

thats like the top 2% of the whole field

Peter Eastgate has never been eliminated from the main event.
07-13-2009 , 02:01 PM
Eastgate looks to have a good table draw.

Ivey is with Jordan Morgan and Benyamine. NLH isn't Benyamine's best game but he's formidable nontheless.

Tom Schnieder got a big stack at his table but had better practice avoidance.

Elky vs. Sebok

Dennis Phillips vs. JC Tran vs. Hachem

Good draw for Antonio. Likewise for Kenny Tran.

The pros could have a good day...

this is gonna be awesome, and i dont really mind now on espn focusing more on the main event than before

Dont forget a few of the 2+2ers:
Andrew Lichtenberger vs Blair Rodman
Craig Boyd vs Theo Tran and Owen Crowe
Clayton could have some interesting hands with Prahlad if he can get a doubleup.
Hac Dang and Blair Hinkle
07-13-2009 , 02:23 PM
Yeah Hac is an interesting one considering he and his bro only play the ME as it pertains to live tournies...

Not necessarily. It's like how people might have mourned Farrah Fawcett somewhat but then MJ goes ahead and dies and the whole world pops a grief boner. In this case, Eastgate is Farrah Fawcett and Phil Ivey is Michael Jackson.

Plus I'm pretty sure more people are interested in Eastgate than Hachem.
07-13-2009 , 02:36 PM
i also have never been eliminated from the ME
