they waste 3.5 months advertising it so the same poker heads tune in to watch it then tape it the week before it airs

great idea

Nothing is live, they need to set up some cams and broadcast this on the net,

Haha, fool. Never doubt Ivey!

Fun Phil Ivey Fact:

If Phil Ivey finishes in 7th place or higher he will overtake Jamie Gold for all-time tournment $ list. According to Hendon Mob Database, Ivey is only $1,357,700 behind Gold. Could have almost $20 million in tournament winnings if he wins the Main Event.

The Rio and ESPN have been ruining the WSOP since they removed the final table from the Binion's

all gamesmanship and charm in that hand on his part for sure

gooooo dennis philips and fu_15... true champions of the game
07-14-2009 , 03:39 AM
dennis phillips is so awful, flatcalls a 4bet oop for more than 1/3 his stack w/ QQ so he can c/f an A-high flop (but checks then tanks for 5 minutes first LDO)

Hamid Nourafchan eliminated in 67th place ($90,344)

Under the gun, Ryan Fair opened with a raise to 100,000. Three players (Phil Ivey, Blair Rodman, and Gabriel Vezina) came along with him to the flop. It showed up {Q-Hearts} {4-Spades} {2-Clubs}, and the action checked four ways. The turn card was the {3-Hearts}, and the first two players checked. Phil Ivey figured now was a good time for bet of 260,000, and it was good enough to win him the pot right there.

From the rail:
"Ivey, Ivey, Ivey"

Across the rail:
"Oy! Oy! Oy!

Mr. Ivey is sitting on 6.2 million chips now, breathing down the neck of the chip leader.
07-14-2009 , 03:40 AM
Ivey at 6.2 million

this. i have nothing against advertising revenue or even promoting the main event, but this still seems to me the most inane way of going about the whole thing.

of course, when Ivey makes the FT, all bets are off. this thing is going to be like the superbowl, I don't care when it airs.

All Aboard the Ivey Train
Gabriel Vezina started things off with a raise to 100,000 from middle position. Whether he wanted it or not, he found action from Phil Ivey in the big blind.

The two men went heads up to a flop showing Js 9h 2h, and the action went check-check. The 6h on the turn drew a bet of 150,000 from Ivey, and Vezina put in the call.

The last card off the deck was the 3d. Ivey fired again, 350,000 this time, and Vezina sent his cards back to the dealer face-down. He's on 6.5 million now if you're scoring at home.
