WSOP Having an "All-Star Game"? WSOP Having an "All-Star Game"?

From twitter.com/WSOP:

Which 20 WSOP Bracelet-Holders would you like to see compete in an All-Star game? Stay tuned...#WSOP

yes please would be good!

Sounds like another pointless made-for-TV event that will take potential airtime away from an event that might have been interesting like the 50K HORSE, just like the horrible 'champion of champions' thing last year. Will obviously feature Phil Hellmuth prominently. ugh.

So basically it'll be a rubbish structured tournament full of the biggest morons out there who are all desperate for TV time.

Great.

Han Solo of all the people to be included Phil Hellmuth would obviously be the main person because he has more titles than everyone else.

There isn't a 50k HORSE this year, but the $50k "Player's Championship" is being filmed for ESPN. It's definitely a replacement for the "Champion's Invitational", which wasn't coming back anyways. Hopefully, this will take the place of last year's Ante Up for Africa. If they allow voting on the Internet, I'm sure someone not as deserving could sneak their way into the field.

it makes sense ermmm i take my 'yes please would be good back'! dont do it wsop

Any way 2+2 can Freep this poll? Ie all in for Jerry Yang or someone equally ridiculous...

Because the ESPN viewing audience doesn't care for limit poker. That's why the 50k "Player's Championship", which will have an 8-game format until they get to the final table, when it turns into all NL holdem.

I'm sure 2+2 would discourage such a thing, but there's worse people to select than Jerry Yang.

i hope Jamie Gold wins it, he's due

DOUG LEE !

Hmm, not sure I like this very much. Oh well..

I thought the 50k was the 'real poker tournament to decide the best overall player in the world', kind of odd to get rid of it in my opinion.

Yes clearly this is true. My point is that having a BS invitational tournament like this and televising it just a way for ESPN to guarantee that the big name 'TV pros' get a lot of airtime, even if they do terribly in the actual (open field) WSOP events. (PH just being the most prominent and personally nauseating example)

kevmath thanks for HORSE/Player Championship info

Helmuth
Tilly
Moneymaker
Varkoyni
Scotty
Cloutier
Galfond
Matusow
Lederer

The more I think of it, we should vote as a block for someone we actually like. Unofficially of course.

yeah, let's vote for Russ, Matusow and Hellmuth. they would have nice chat going on between them.

Id actually like to see a skills competition.

Chip Stacking with Carlos Mortensen, Beer drinking with Scotty, Sccoter races with Doyle. Not sure what else they could do really

They should do it by numbers of bracelets if they expect this to be an annual event. if they do then these guys should be in it for sure....

Hellmuth
Chan
Brunson
Seidel
Ivey
Billy Baxter
TJ
Men "The Master"
Layne Flack
Jay Heimowitz
Scotty Nguyen
Allen Cunningham
Jesus
Ted Forrest

...and then figure out a way to pick the rest from the large number of people who have 4 bracelets.

Unfortunately, Harrah's marketing doesn't work that way and they will figure out a way to find exemptions for TV pros who have an 'in' with Harrah's (read: Annie Duke).

They should make it a bracelet re-buy, for every WSOP bracelet you have you can re-buy back into the event, would be it entertaining to watch Hellmuth go broke 11 times in one event.

That would be TV gold.
