Was at the WSOP today and saw that they had the cash games going. The King's room fixed their electronic clock-in system (finally) and is giving $3/h comp + 17 tier points/h. Not sure what they are giving over in the regular cash game area; probably the same $10/day.

Do they have chip runners? Last year they didn't because some one dress up as one and Jack the highstakes game for a decent amount.

With all the security cameras in place, both inside and outside the venue, it's pretty optimistic to think you could get away with something like that without being ID'd.

Pretty easy to have a good disguise though.

As far as scams go this probably is solidly +EV as long as you just hit a few higher stakes tables and let that be the end of it

As long as you don't get into a vehicle right outside the convention center, where cameras might be able to pick up the license plate, although I know for a fact the Masquerade Parking Lot is not completely covered with security cameras, my car was backed into while parked there a couple summers ago, the parking spot my car was in was not covered by any security cameras , at least that was what I was told after several meetings with Security Management.

well, you can easily just foot it awhile

I'm not a thief, but if I had the legit chip runner costume I bet my odds of success on a short 30 minute scam would probably be around 99.9%

Does that sound too high? Might be too low

Edit to add, sorry sounds like you got robbed

I was there last year and there wasn't any chip runner. I ask and was told that someone dress up as a chip runner with name tag hit the high-roller area get away with something north of 50K and that's the reason why the RIO didn't provide chip runner and anytime someone bust they must walk to the cage.

I'm surprise no one mention it yet.

Was there yesterday and played some $1/$3 NL. A lot of new dealers, uncomfortable chairs, no shuffle machines. We got about 20 hands an hour.

It's gonna be a great summer. Gonna need to bring a patient zen mindset to the chaos at Rio.

edit: confirmed no chip runners either

edit2: WSOP is on BRAVO App is working now with all the cash games

Last year during the WSOP the floor manager in the Rio Poker Room was calling clock in cash games after 30 seconds to "move the game along"...

A new player at our table was put on a decision for his stack post flop. He's thinking for 30 seconds, floor walks buy and calls clock. WHAT!? He folds KK face up a few seconds later so he really did have a decision.

Could not believe the floor called clock in a cash game.

Good luck to everyone this year!

I'm sure this has been asked before, but to those who play cash games at Rio, is it still better than getting a cab/Uber/Lyft to one of the other casinos in town?

Every year, we get a cavalcade of crazy stories from Rio's cash game area. While highly entertaining to people like me, who follow from afar, I wonder why people still play them. I can only assume they're soft as hell, or relocating to Bellagio or the Aria is not worth the effort.

I am in favor of taking measures to move the game along.

Lots of tournament guys playing cash games, and often less waiting for a seat, so your hourly rate takes a hit when you factor in travel time and being on the wait list.

I wish more floors called clock in cash games.

Too much time is spent in cash trying to change a decision rather than making one.

I guess it’s personal preference between making more money or being less miserable with the first option depending on what stakes you play and the second one on how much the Rio bothers me.

Personally, I’d rather make $10/hour sitting on my couch watching Netflix than $20/hour working in a sewer. But different people have different priorities.

Wow first time I've ever heard anything good about poker at the Rio.

I heard it through the grapevine that the WSOP jacked up their time charge (and rake?) by like 75%. The time charge on the 10-25 plo game was $8/down last year. Now, it is $14/down.

From the looks of things, it seems like the players are protesting with their feet. At this time last year, the WSOP easily had 50-60 tables going. Now, they have 28.

LOL. Caesars management at its best!

Somebody told me yesterday that the 50-100 stud/8 game had a $13 ($14?) time charge per half hour.

At the Bellagio, it would be either $8 or $9.

LOL that is incredible. Already by far the worst product in the city with no amenities or comps. Do they realize that their ****ty convention center poker room is a six minute drive from four of the most prominent poker rooms in the world? Where the hell do they get off gouging the few loyal cash players they had? So senseless lol Caesars.
