i may have missed it before, but after having checked probably two dozen times this is the first time I've seen 50-100 stud8 actually being spread since the start of WSOP. Anyone know whether the rake has been reduced even further?

WTF is wrong?

PLO cash games are WAY down in action from 2years ago and games got smaller... while the ****ing economy is ****ing strong... first year that I have to wholly agree with the pessimists and Poker is on it's way to becoming the obsure thing it used to be.

and don't get me ****ing started on the state of NL... the silence, the tanking, the seriousness, the stare downs over a $50 cbet...WTF is wrong with these people? Who the **** enjoys this ****?
i played all plo last wsop and had the same experiences with the tanking over small bets, people on their tablets, nobody talking etc.

I haven't been to vegas during this wsop but i'm glad to see a lot of plo action has moved from the dumpster known as the rio to the aria after this 14 dollar per half time charge.

Outrageous to charge $14 per down for the 75 S8 and PLO games, and even if they have now reduced the time pay to $12, that’s still untenable to me.

I’ve long wanted to see the 75 S8 game (which has historically also been spread as a 50 game, depending on the lineup and the year) move from the Rio. I appreciate that the game is something of a WSOP institution/tradition at this point, but I’ve been unwilling to play in that game for years—even though S8 is one of my favorite forms of poker and is one of my best games. I just had too many bad experiences in that game, so I finally gave up on it altogether. The cards they deal in the ring games at Rio are, as we all know, complete crap; the decks in the S8 game, specifically, were often marked by some of the teams who work that game over year after year; and the floor staff was altogether unwilling to take any steps to clean the game up (even requests for new, clean set-ups often went ignored). I’ve often wondered if perhaps the reason that game never migrated from the Rio is that some of those annual regs get away with all their angles at Rio because the floor just doesn’t give a fk whether the game is clean or not? Anyway, I know plenty of East Coast stud players who just won’t fk with that game anymore, which is sad.

I’d love to see the game move. I’d play it again. But enduring the hellish atmosphere (and smell!) of the Rio to play in a game where I have to assume that all the babies in the deck are marked and then pay Caesar’s $14/down to hire inexperienced, overworked, and under-trained dealers for that privilege? Yeah. No. I’m good, boo.

(And seriously: just seeing how poorly the dealers are treated at Rio—both by the players and by management—is soul-crushing enough to keep me away. Those poor dealers were never even taught or trained sufficiently to deal all the games, so it saddens me to be around all the abuse they take when they inevitably make errors dealing the stud/split-pot/mixed games. I just want to hug them sometimes...)

The time charge has been reduced to $12 per half hour.

The $1,500 stud/8 tournament starts Monday. So, it was inevitable some S/8 game would run.

Are you able and willing to give names to these teams?

wow, $12/hh is pretty absurd

last time I played PLO at rio 2 years ago it was an absolute nightmare. They employ tons of untrained dealers so you get in maybe 10 hands per down.

Yeah you get into the games much quicker but not sure it's worth it

I should say, lest I was unclear: I haven’t played the game in several years. So my impressions of the game are from the years prior to when I stopped playing in it. I think I played it last at the 2013 or 2014 WSOP, so it’s been a while.

Back then, I posted my perception that several players in the game were playing teams/from same roll/etc., and when I named a couple of them in particular, I received a lot of unpleasant comments and PM’s on the forum, so I just assume not deal with that shyte again. But any seasoned stud player playing for those kinds of stakes is gonna recognize the kind of squeeze plays that were going on in that game.

But I will say this: since then, one of the players I mentioned was implicated in a well-publicized cheating scandal at the Borgata. So I’m sure you can figure that one out for yourself, boo. He and his stable of players have been playing in that game for as long as I’ve been aware of it.

I thought they made sure that dealers in high stakes games were at least somewhat experienced compared to the ones they use for low stakes games and tournaments?

I’ll never forget the tournament dealer who sat down, proudly announced that it was his first time ever after ‘graduating’ dealing school and then proceeded to misdeal his first three hands.

There used to be a rotation of more experienced dealers for the higher stakes, but then that stopped at some point, and oftentimes totally green dealers were pushing into the 75 stud game and the bigger PLO games.

I wonder how it is this year?

I think it would be cheaper if they charged $1 per hand per player and that way players would not be paying the cost of slow dealers.

Played plo yesterday:

5/5 plo is $8 time charge per half hour

1/2/5 plo is $7 time charge per half hour

All the games were good with plenty of action

Food is pretty good in the King's Room. They have posted a security guard to make sure only King's Room players get access to the food. Last year, it was a free-for-all. lol.

Also, they only put the best WSOP dealers in the King's Room. It's like a totally different poker room from the WSOP.

This is not an endorsement, just an observation. I still think they rake too much in there.

I made money in the cash games at the Rio but quit going because of the atrocious dealing staff. One very competent local dealer went there and dealt a couple years ago The supervisor left him on a high limit PLO game for 8 downs without a break. He said he would leave if they did that to him again, the next day they did it again so he left, never to return.

I had a better time playing at Bally's, Flamingo and Orleans.

Concur on some of the dealers being horrendous. There was one yesterday in the NLHE cheezburger stakes that was SOOOO slow she would have put a meth freak to sleep. And then we watched her move to the next table and put THEM to sleep.

That the floor staff remain oblivious to this crap says how little they value the players who were paying their rake, whether out of convenience or simply killing time.

I have to agree as well with the negative RIO cash game experience. Just got back from my first Vegas trip during the series. Played 2/5 NL and 1-2-5 PLO. Super slow and terrible dealers, especially on the PLO side. RIO as a whole didnt impress me either. The whole atmosphere just seems off. Games were good but I played in 5 casinos with good games this week, all with better dealers and atmosphere. I will end with a positive note thou, played the $565 PLO bracelet event and all the dealers for that seemed to be very good.

lol. One year, I stayed at the Rio for about a week for free.

I could not do it a second time and paid to stay across the street at the Gold Coast the next couple of years.

I've been playing WSOP cash games and events for about 10 years. At the conclusion of every year I say, "why bother with the Rio, the slow hand shuffles, incompetent dealers, crappy chairs and rude service?" Then I go back the next year.

I swear the thing that tilts me the most is the walk in from the parking lot. You go up the stairs and in the little smoking area near the entrance is where I hear asshats talking about their bad beat on the phone to someone I'm certain doesn't care to hear it. One day I'm gonna punch someone. I hate people talking about hand histories, it's just so annoying.

This year I've only played 10/25 NL in King's lounge. The rake is $12/half hour. But players usually do time flop and I've run really good lol. I'm not going to say the game is soft, but I've certainly seen harder. The dealers are OK in the lounge and they do use shufflers to speed up the game. One complaint is the players I've noticed are always getting up and leaving the game short for periods of time.

I notice every year a large group of (I think) Israelis who have this annoying habbit of speaking Hebrew to each other during/between hands or talking to their annoying friends who aren't even in the game. Then they all get up and go somewhere, leaving the game short. When they come back it's more of the same all night.

Overall the staff working WSOP is just incompetent and rude. For example, I go to list up for 10/25 and see on the board there's an empty seat on 5/10 w mandatory straddle. I asked to be added to that list. "We don't have that game here, you have to go over there to join." So I walk over to where they've directed me, see the game on the list and hear "We don't have that game here, you'll have to go over there." I walk to the third location, wait in a stupid disorganized line, confirm it's the right place and now the lady refuses to put me on the list unless I have my player's card (I don't). So now I have to walk back to the lobby, get the card and go back.

By this time I realize my diamond status allows me to cut the line (a policy I disagree with but I'll take it!) so I go get myself moved up to next on 10/25. I ask the guy if they can have Bravo text me and he says they only do it from their personal phones (obvious ploy for a tip). I decide to loiter in the Kings room since I'm next up and end up waiting over an hour. Now I'm getting hungry so I decide to go to the buffet and ask the floor guy for a stamp. He tells me no since I'm not in a game.

At this point I've dealt with multiple layers of incompetence/rudeness, waited an hour and was hating myself for not going to Bellagio. I snark at the guy that I'll go outside to eat and miss my call, after waiting an hour today and playing 10+ hours already this week in the King's Lounge, to which he replies something snarky back. I blew up at him, can't even remember what I said but geez these guys are such clowns.
