Lots of dealer complaints this year.

Jason Mercier:

... Examples, dealers not knowing the rules, can't read the board, announcing the bets when they aren't supposed to, slow as s***, etc etc

I don't really remember the dealers ever being this inexperienced/bad at past wsops ... It's borderline embarrassing

RT @golferjosh: Time to start bitching I guess . @WSOPTD @WSOP why does a 5k tournament use all rookie dealers? we've dealt w constant ...

The John Monette thing where the dealer didn't see the women's flush.

On Pokernews there was a blip about a bad dealer at Negreanu's table that was switched out because of how bad they were.

I'm not saying the poker dealers @wsop are great. I am saying that it's probably not their fault they are not properly trained. #benice

a lot of the dealers will be rookies just taken on for the summer , they should be trained up properly but that will not have any cure on nervousness they must have being thrown into the biggest poker tournament on earth . i think i read a tweet from a recognized player yesterday that there was near uproar at one table when a dealer flipped a card accidentally , im sure a bit of patience and a little bit of moral boosting would do a lot better than having a go at the poor guy/girl because it can only make the dealer even more nervous .

Would love for players to have to deal a 8 hr shift for just 1 week. I've been on both sides of the fence and dealing isn't hard but you get what u pay for and the wsop loses the good dealers b/c they don't pay them **** and the outrageous vig that the players now pay is going to house and floor and only a smidge to the dealers. 10 yrs ago when the dealers got the 3% the dealers were very good.
Another thing to remember is that Holdem is now king and no dealers on the west coast have any experience dealing mixed games so mistakes will happen. In response to calling out bets and such, almost all wsop dealers come from outside Harrahs and tons of houses have diff rules. Most common one that is split is when a player bets and another raises a lot of places pull in the bets and leave the raise (this is how I think it should be btw) so that the player can see what the bet is back on them but if I remember right wsop doesn't do that. Dealers need to just be polite and not talk and do their job ( quality over quantity so if they have to be a little slower than thats better than making a mistake) and the players need to relax and realize mistakes will be made and it is never intentional and to complain to Jack and Jeffrey and not to the dealer b/c that helps noone.

People need to understand that prior to the World Series some dealers have never dealt a hand of live casino poker in their lives. That is a fact. The rookies were all trained by the WSOP for 6 weeks but training only goes to far when it comes to actually sitting in the box and dealing to live players, some of whom are extremely nasty and impatient and only make things worse for inexperienced dealers. If you want someone to blame for lack of dealer quality, blame the WSOP and not the dealers themselves. You also have to understand that about 2000 dealers are needed to run the WSOP. Where are you going to find 2000 highly trained/experienced dealers who actually want to deal the series?

It is a double edged sword. Everybody wants the WSOP to get bigger every year but you also have to accept the drawbacks that go with the increase in size, i.e. lower quality of dealers, longer bathroom lines, overall cattle call atmosphere, etc.

Just wait a week or so and a couple of things will happen. 1) The really bad dealers will either quit or be fired, and 2) the dealers who aren't 100% sharp right now will start to get better due to experience.

Like another poster I've been on both sides of the table so I know the frustration as a player when you get a clueless dealer. I would definitely correct the dealer if he makes a mistake but going off on the dealer is never constructive. I heard some really nasty and bad stuff went down during the stud/8 tournament with players throwing cards and practically jumping across the table.

they seem about the same as always (pretty terrible) imo. its also the very beginning of the series though so hopefully some of the rookies will improve. yesterday i had one of the sickest dealers ive ever seen in the mix max, the way she pitched the cards was a work of art, really fast with tons of spin and perfect trajectory every time. she was followed by a bunch of terrible rookies including one with BO bad enough that it caused me to leave my (1) seat between most hands.

Just talked to one of my friends ( really good dealer) who deals wsop and he said that they are giving them a choice if they want cash, satellites, or mtts. Now we know why tourney dealers suck because all the good ones are dealing cash. Bad choice for wsop to not delegate who goes where.

there are complaints about the dealers EVERY YEAR...this is nothing new...by now, the expectations should be that the live dealers @ the WSOP will be sub-par

I was playing the cash games at The Rio yesterday and one of the visiting players went off on a nasty rant about the quality of the WSOP dealers, as though there existed an inexhaustible, overflow labor pool of competent dealers not tied down with their regular gigs at their casinos.

I was wondering if other locals found some of our WSOP guests a little presumptive, over-bearing and downright ignorant about Las Vegas and the people who work here?

the wsop should fix this, i mean it is the WORLD SERIES!!! they have to properly train there dealers. and i think dealers should have tons of motivation to do well with how rich alot of the players at the table are. they should be working there asses off for tips.

Pretty ridiculous if the dealers are making any mistakes on the biggest stage. My local casino is a dump, but the dealers are still competent.

Do you think the Rio chooses to utilize its more experienced dealers for the cash games, as opposed to tournaments, since it has to make sure it gets its rake correctly; thereby allowing a higher propensity of lower qualified dealers to the tournaments?

Or perhaps are the cash game dealers all in-house around the year and the tournament dealers are a more independent contract out-sourcing endeavor?

Or are the cash game dealers just as [s]bad[/s] inexperienced?

At the pre-shift dealers are given a choice where they want to work: cash, satellite, or tournament. You are just as likely to get a rookie dealer in the cash games as you are in the tournaments. Furthermore what cash games the dealers are put in is pretty much random. I know one dealer who was brand new, had never dealt a hand of poker before, and on his first night first down he was put into one of the huge PLO cash games.

Another thing I do know is that only the experienced dealers will be dealing the big events like the One Drop, the 50k mix, and final tables.

The dealers or no worse then last year. Just show a little patience in my opinion. Seriously these rich pros ****ing just love to complain at dealers, when they are making minimum wage. Sure this is suppose to be the biggest tournament series of the world, but just stop being a whiny bitch about it, and show some understanding. Its really despicable
