What did the blinds start at, 25/25? How long were the levels?

I want to say 2013 was optimal.
Most 3 day big field events hit the money right at the end of day 1, with the FT on day 3.

1994 was the 25th annual WSOP. 25th is the Silver anniversary and they gave their weight in silver to the winner.

2019 is the 50th annual WSOP. 50th is the Gold anniversary. Will they also give an extra gold bonus?!?!?! A 200 pound person would be worth $3,737,624.00 in Gold in todays prices. If they did say 200 troy ounces if you weighed 200 pounds that would be an extra $256,300.00 in gold.

Do we think they would do something like this for the main?!

No.

If they were, they would’ve mentioned it long ago.

2018 and 2015 was the earliest I can remember being at the end of December.

2017 was released late January 2017 and 2016 they didnt do it until LATE February 2016.

It would be nice to know sooner rather than later as other Casino's build their own tourney events around the WSOP draw and it makes scheduling trips a lot more efficient. But the WSOP moves at whatever pace they care to it seems.

and obesity stricken america would treat is as an eating binge right before WSOP hahahahah. Also a pretty bad precedent to set in todays climate, isnt it like diamond jubilee after 50 years? so next would be weight in diamonds hahaha

Russ Hamilton gained weight on purpose in case he won it, which, as the record books show, he did. Given what we know now about him, is it defamatory to suggest he cheated his way to the title?

Yet another poker phrase the non-poker world has adopted.

It is great to see, even with poker's decline, the wsop is still alive and kicking year after year, a lot of nostalgia.

You can buy in until the start of Day 2 in the Main Event. They are also using the Big Blind Ante for the Main.

It’s the weekend after MDW which is among the busiest times in Vegas anyway and probably the best party weekend of the year. I highly doubt a couple thousand extra poker players will make a huge difference to the city.

I guess I can live with the BB Ante being imposed on the Main Event, though I expect issues with its implementation this year.

But I don't really like the buyin until start of Day 2 change. Not sure what the point is. For an event like the Main, I think everyone should have to play on Day 1, even if max-late reg'd on Day 1, at least you have to play 1 Level on Day 1. Is WSOP fully moving towards Matt Savage quirky-type tournaments with Quantum Reloads and other BS?

Probably an unpopular idea, but I would allow re-entry for the first level only. If you bust in the first level, something pretty terrible must've happened so I wouldn't be against the player re-entering.

The day 2 entry is ridiculous though. You should buy in before registration closes and blind down until day 2. To be fair though, I can't see many people actually entering on day 2 anyway. I'd probably set the line at about 80

It'll be way over 80. You get 100bb still. And it's literally 1 second later of tourney time that you could enter from last year.
