They have announced the weekend tournaments......

http://www.wsop.com/news/2018/Dec/10...-OF-POKER.html

$500 entry (no rake 1st entry) / 50,000 chips and 50 minute levels / $1 million to winner / $5 million guarantee replaces the Colossus on the opening weekend.

Looks like more chips in several events (60,000 in the Main) so be interesting to see the structures!

Where to watch the Main Event final table:

1k events SS from 5k to 20k
1.5k from 7.5k to 25k

So yeah major changes to the structure ... Will be interesting to see what they look like. Structures for NL events were pretty much perfect before.

MM and MS back to Friday and Saturday day 1s.

Also looks like no more events after the ME, series ends with ME

I’d assume they’ve just cut levels from the tournaments to compensate for the extra chips. Caesars way too greedy and penny pinching to actually give you extra value once they’ve established a standard.

Full schedule isn't released yet, that's only a partial schedule you're seeing. Good chance they run the $1K's and One Drop stuff after ME Day 1's to keep peeps around.

It says the series ends on the 16th and assuming ME is still a 10 day event it would as well. So no more events starting or ending after ,llike last year

Wouldn't be surprised if the blinds start at 500 big blind.

The 16th I assume would be the conclusion of the ME Final Table. During the ~10-day stretch of the ME I anticipate other side bracelet events to be starting and going on. But I wouldn't expect new events to be starting after the ME final table is concluded, no one would be around by that point.

Maybe BB Antes will be introduced with the tradeoff being an increase in starting stack size across all buyins, like 60K starting for ME. I just wonder if structures will change materially with increase starting stack sizes.

Also, side digression on BB Ante: If you thought it was bad before with people wandering around with chip racks and seat cards pretending to not be able to find their new table seat (until BB conveniently passes their new open seat), just wait to see all the lost players wandering around with seat cards and chip racks once BB Ante takes effect, LOL.

Do you really think it makes a big difference if another event starts a couple hours before the ME concludes or a couple hours after that?

I think the one drop started on the same day as the ME concluded this year and at the time the $50k high roller and “The Closer” started, the number of ME participants was down to the lower double digits.

In previous years, poker was basically dead after the last starting flight of the ME and ID4 weekend.

I thought the fact that they had bracelet events after the main last year was great. I did not play the main, but came but after the main just to play more bracelet events. Hope they do it again this year.

Sure, if you're counting a million dollar buyin televised tournament as just "another event", then yes you're correct an "event" did start after the ME concluded.

And the final flight of Event #75 $1,500 The Closer, Flight C, also began on the day of ME FT Conclusion.

Beyond a million dollar TV tournament and "The Closer", all other tournament that started during the ME also concluded during the ME. Remember many of those late tournaments were 2-day events with 30-minute levels, including The Closer.

from my experience, higher startstacks result in worse structure alltogether. also, "deepstack" tournies often mean worse quality of chips.

i miss the wsop 2011, when you started with 4500 chips (21 chips) in a 1500$ tourney. but deep in the tourney the average stack was more than 40bb, and thats what makes a tourney a great one.

in 2006, the $1500s started with 1500 chips.

Yep, used to be 1:1 ratio, ME you got 10,000 chips. $1K's you got 1,000 chips. It was terrible actually, you lose your first couple normal sized pots and suddenly you're shortstacked in Level 1 LOL.

Played in both the ME and 1500 that year - it did impact early play (as it should) but playings styles were very different then. The gradual increase in chip stacks matched a overall more aggressive game style - it in effect allowed aggression to be a viable play method (IMO). I also played in $1000 buy in Sr and Super Sr last year (yes I'm an old fart LOL )with a $5K start stack. I personally think they over did the chip change going up 400% but it is more in line with Rec player experience for starting stacks at say HPT WSOPC and local casino events. I do hope they don't butcher the structure but fear that the mid level game will suffer. Just can't start with that many chips and be "in the money" by level 12 as was often the case in 2018 without skipping Blind levels and it is unlikely they will allow the smaller events to become Marathons (Cash at say level 16)

Am I mistaken or does the Main Event run for one extra day this year? July 3rd through 16th is 14 total days, and it ran for only 13 days last year (July 2-14), right?
