There have been 3 of these low stakes No Limit Hold'em Deepstack events so far with fields of 6,151, 2,808 and 3,759, and Benjamin Underwood has made the final table of all of them. He was 4th in Event #9, 5th in Event #37 and is now 7/10 in Event #53.

Well that didn't last long... dnegs becomes the second person eliminated from the 50k PPC early on day 2 (looking forward to tmr's vlog rant critiquing the poor play of his opponents):

Lol at either thinking big bets are big blinds or that 19 big bets are not a decent amount.

I don't understand 8-game structure, as it turns out.

PPC only got 74 players. That’s very low, got 87 last year and 100 the year before, cba to check before that but this is def the lowest ever.

Yeh, last year Michael Mizrachi won it for the third time and Hennigan was second, so a lot of people have figured out how -EV they are in it.

2006: 143
2007: 148
2008: 148
2009: 95
2010: 116
2011: 128
2012: 108
2013: 132
2014: 102
2015: 84
2016: 91
2017: 100
2018: 87
2019: 74

Before 2010 it was HORSE and I believe they played NLHE on the final table. Since 2010 it has been 8-game.

I wonder what number they find acceptable before they remove the event or change the games played. Hardly a flagship event if the number of entries drop below 50.

I honestly suspect it's the toughness of the field too. The lineup this year is absolutely ridiculous. Every table is just filled with mixed games endbosses.

For example, almost the entire field has bracelets. Here are some of the few guys in the field who do not have a wsop bracelet

David Openheim
Jared Bleznick
Isaac Haxton
Trueteller
Jungleman
Mikael Thuritz
Tom Dwan
Dan Smith
Matt Glantz
Empire2000

So...... yeah. lmao

they also changed the structure this year too, not sure if that had any effect.

or if it fell on the schedule timeline differently

It would make for an incredible tournament with 40 players, mostly big names. I don't see the problem.

Yea, it's basically what the WSOP was originally all about: small fields populated by nothing but the very best. Meanwhile you have the $600 NLHE running on the same day with ~6000 people where it's going to take a miracle for a "name" player to win. Both types of tourneys have their appeal, but I like that there are still some prestigious and exclusive events. For example, Ivey has been late-regging a lot of stuff this year, but for the $50k he was in his seat from the first minute. This is a title that many of the top pros really want to win.

I think the history of the PPC is as follows:

2006-2009: HORSE
2010-2011: 8-game (added NLHE, PLO, and 2-7 Triple Draw); (Final table = NLHE)
2012-2014: 8-game (Final table = 8-game)
2015: 10-game (added Badugi and 2-7 NL Single Draw); (Final table = 10-game)
2016-2019: 8-game (Final table = 8-game)
