I gotta be the only person in the world rooting against Minkin. She is getting too much attention because shes a female. All females should just be considered"players in the tourney" like every other guy who enters the field.

I dont believe in the whole"good for poker" arguement. If she won, everything will be the same . Poker has been dying for awhile due to legality issues. More women entering the game of poker wont change squat.

Also, im quite franly tired of people commenting on her looks, its all irrelevant if shes a playboy model or a 80 yr old grandma. We are playing poker here, looks on a female shouldnt even be talked about or mentioned , Im tired of reading pathetic tweets from horny virgins about her

I completely agree with you, but i didnt even write that. I made my point of it shouldnt matter. It shouldnt matter what people look like. Its irrelevant, and to get attention for that fact shes a woman is just ridiculous. and the whole"last woman standing" thing they do every yr is stupid aswell.

Women want to be treated fair they say? and people go out and give them special treatment all the time, then dedicate tourneys just for them its hilarious

I'm with you on most of this. Yes, she is getting an inordinate amount of TV attention (one of the few getting those little recorded studio pieces between hands). No, she would not cause a new poker boom or even a poker bump. And I agree that her looks are mostly irrelevant to her ability to play poker.

All that said, still rooting for Minkin. Is she my No. 1 pick? Not necessarily. But there are about 125 players left in this thing, I gotta root for someone, I've heard of her, and when it comes down to it, I'd rather root for her than any of the horny virgins.

Why does everyone type 10 to show a ten on a board when it actually is just a T?

Special treatment? Are they slipping her a few extra chips between hands? I must have missed that.

I never said her specifically. I am talking in general about "women"
Yes, women do get special treatment and i will gladly explain how. They have an edge the second they sit down, if they are good looking, even a bigger edge

In the 10 yrs or so i played live poker, i have seen the following done
NUMEROUS TIMES!(mostly from very young kids in early 20s, or men n their late 50s)
-
-men win a pot off a female, and give them her money back, or a river bet back.
-men tell a woman"i got a big hand you should fold" then she folds and the man shows a fullhouse etc
-men tell women"i dont want your money you are too cute to lose"
-when a woman asks to see a mans cards because shes curious the man happily shows his cards
-men chop evenly with a woman when she has 5 bbs to his 50+

They also get credit for having hands and its easier for a woman to get away with a bluff.

Im just talking the truth here and know people will call me a hater but im not theres nothing wrong with saying women got it good and easy in poker. I just find it so hypocritical people are

Yeah generally they are less likely to get run over if they’re beat as guys can be nice to them. Especially if they’re good looking as you said. Some know it too and use it to their advantage as they should

Mildly related musing:

If such things could be quantified, would the basement of the Rio be one of the most stressful/exciting places in the world per square foot?

So much stress, elation, and heartbreak happens there every day during the WSOP. Those bland beige hallways are probably the first thing most people see after their disgusting, soul-crushing failures and beats.

https://youtu.be/X2Oz_Ljab_s?t=4m23s

If I close my eyes, I can still smell that distinct Rio WSOP scent, and practically hear the "charger case, guys" ringing in my ears.

This Main Event is shaping up to be horrible, the worst ever.

2008 - First class of Nov 9 made it interesting
2009 - Ivey (best in world at time) and Darvin Moon
2010 - Grinder (big name, fun action player) and Candio
2011 - Ben Lamb (big name, fun action player)
2012 - Two Women go Deep, Salaburu/Koroknai strong villains
2013 - No great big names at final table but many went deep
2014 - Newhouse back to back and epic collapse
2015 - Negreanu Deep (great talker) and Justin Schwartz
2016 - Kassouf Deep (great talker) Qui Nguyen Action Player
2017 - John Hesp and Lamb/Saout 2 time FT
2018 - Minkin/Cada/Obst/Deeb/Pollak

You have 5 players that at least one must make it to the final table for a decent storyline.....

Minkin = Female
Cada = 2 Time ME Winner and Youngest Winner repeat?
Obst = Biggest Laydown in WSOP history deep in Main comes back??
Deeb = Talker and action player
Pollak = Back to Back FT would be more impressive than Newhouse, larger field and he finished 3rd last year

If none of these players make it you have NO story
