Yep my day one table had an old man who basically called every pre flop bet , and was the most passive player imaginable until the near of the second hour where he spewed off his a9 trips on a 9-7-5-t-9 board to tens full who had played one hand in the previous two hours before hand.

I think the Russian is right, if Phil was offering the world 10K/20K HU there would be a line

They need to retire the Norm and Lon show. It used to be good but now they sound worse than the two old guys on the Muppet Show.

So where are all the complaints today about how ESPN/WSOP stack some tables with celebs/top pros to make it good for TV? Or is part of the conspiracy to have a day like today where they purposefully make the tables dull just to throw people off?

Lon is close to terrible calling live poker. He is good doing voice overs.

Norman is an acquired taste.

The Main Event coverage officially starts when Hellmuth is eliminated. There is really no need to center the show around him year after year.

Respect for Hellmuth for taking it like a man

I was fully expecting him to act like an egomaniac blowhard,

And even if it's not what the cameras want, on some level Phil has to realize he's an ambassador for the game and needs to set an example for how it's played

You know, he’d kind of been right if he went on a rant. The man made a horrible call. And I’m not talking just cuz he sucked out. He called 1/4 of his stack with a weak ace vs an opponent known to play very passively. He is so far behind Phil’s range there. You know what? I’m gonna order a Phil Hellmuth aria hat off his site. Hopefully I can get one of those shirts too.

just cuz he swallowed his tongue exiting doesn't mean he's setting a good example, see: the end of last night, today, this whole main event. His table captaining is ****ing annoying and most players would get the floor on their ass for behaving like he does, consistently.
