WSOP site. Think there's about 30 who've put down deposits. Just odd for so many to show up late to an event like this

Guy better enter his own tournament. Doesn't he know if he entered they'd get even more entries?

Yeah, Miles came off to me as douchey and fake, and kinda revealed himself by being a sore loser at the end there but that doesn't necessarily mean he was wrong about Esfandiari. Right or wrong sounded like he was just making an honest observation there...

Is it possible to watch the one drop in the UK with all the sports channels available?

One drop gonna be a bit of a bust? What if they only get 20 entries or so?

He's a Canadian guy with a chess background. I'm not sure how much experience he has in poker. I think he comes from a very well-to-do family in Toronto.

BT/ESPN do have WSOP in the schedule for Monday and Tuesday but they appear to be repeats of the ME FT.

I work with addicts everyday, moron. Giving an addict a sudden windfall of cash is never a good idea. Enablers like you who think because someone went through rehab once, they can handle that windfall without temptation to use again are the real problem. GFY

I’m beginning to think you may not have been completely sincere when you wrote that you hoped nothing terrible would happen to him.

Funny. I am an opiate addict. Took a few years to get clean. Don't know how long he's been "sober" but part of the problem is that people have this misconception addicts can't handle normal stressers just like everybody else once they have made a shift in their way of thinking. You're obviously lying because you made quick judgments about somebody you know nothing about.

Thinking he will relapse and wanting him to relapse aren’t the same. I don’t like the guy but I don’t want him to be using again (even though I’m fairly certain he will).

I’m a forensic psychologist, smart guy. Not sure what you think I’m “lying” about. Who said anything about not handling stressors? Don’t mix my comments with what somebody else said. Enablers like you think treating a dangerous situation as a dangerous situation is somehow “judgmental” and wrong. In the years I’ve spent working with addicts and criminals, one thing I learned is to not beat around the bush and coddle them when that can be detrimental to them. They need to be aware of high-risk situations and have the appropriate support and coping skills in place to handle that situation. Pretending like they won’t be tempted when they become suddenly rich isn’t supportive, it’s foolish.

Are most of these high stakes regs (i.e. Koon, Chidwick, Sontheimer, Vogelsang) buddies with each other and do you think they trade pieces of themselves in events like this? I imagine that most of the people playing this have sold a lot of action. $1M is just such a gross amount to come up with for one poker tournament, but on the other hand if you win...

Still better than the awful grey background and constant refreshing with no interviews and very few pictures that the WSOP website used to be during those couple of years they had exclusive updates.

From poker news:

"Talal Shakerchi opened to 27,000 and Christoph Vogelsang three-bet to 100,000. Shakerchi called.

Shakerchi check-called a bet of 85,000 on the {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop and the turn was the {3-Spades}.

Shakerchi check-called another bet of 275,000 and the river was the {9-Clubs}.

This time Shakerchi checked and Vogelsang bet 600,000.

"I've seen this move before Christoph," said Shakerchi before folding.

After the hand, Vogelsang was warned about announcing his bet sizings at the same time as the 30-second shot clock."

I understand the words, but what does the last part mean "warned about announcing his bet sizes at the same time as the 30 second shot clock"? Does the shot clock count you down and he's talking over it, possible (I'm sure unintended) angle where the bet size gets misheard?

if i were to guess, he is probably being asked/told that his bet size announcement must be clearly made/done before the shot clock.

Ah you think he's announcing his bet size at the last second and potentially as the clock expires? That would make sense, he's not known for acting very quickly
