Sounds like Nick Schulman lol. He's not boring at all imo - but he's got that golf announcer voice going on. Actually Ali Nejad has a bit of that too - and he does the actual play by play. Nick is color.

Crazy hand, bad call by Labat there - under those conditions AA by one player has got to be >85%. And what did he cost himself in equity - about a million?

Re: WSOP 2018 results/tournament discussion (**NO SPOILERS**)

On the Labat KK call - I did a quick calculation with loose ranges, no ICM and binary outcomes (calling if neither player has AA = good, calling if either has AA = bad). Basically with loose ranges (JJ+,AK for Zhu, QQ+,AK for Marion) neither player has AA about 60% of the time. But obviously if you tighten that up it gets closer to 50% or worse.

I think loosish is justified for Zhu because Labat just flatted. And he's a good player who shouldn't be terrified of the moment, and knows he's just barely ahead of the smallest stack.

QQ seems ok for Marion. AK might find a fold I guess but I just can't see it with him already putting in a raise and having Zhu well covered.

But AK beats KK a lot more often than QQ, so you gotta factor that (which I didn't). If AK is in their ranges it's twice as likely to occur as a pocket pair. And finally ICM should dictate tight sphincter there.

But then again if he does win - the monster stack for a great player like Labat is a terror weapon in a spot where over half the table is just hoping to ladder up. So those chips are even more valuable than ICM predicts.

And finally at least no matter what he's likely to still make the final table with over 10BBs - where anything can happen.

I really don't think it's a bad call.

Speaking of announcers....

Pet peeve @ the use of "vers" as in "AA vers KK"

"Vers" is not a word and it's being used too much. The word is "versus."

It should not become accepted like "nucular." It must be stopped.

Carry on.

Ok... working again

I'm still a little worried it says this: Due to broadcast restrictions, this video is not available in your region. Please check your local listings for viewing information.

But I guess once the broadcast starts it will work

I ask CS, and they said all final table will work for those in the UK

Hope he got that correct

I guess it depends on what an "ESPN market" is to determine blackouts

Can't you English guys get a streaming service that includes ESPN? I can get ESPN as part of a streaming package for $20/month.

Agree

Both Zhu and Manions ranges are much wider than KK+ given the way the hand played out.

Stack sizes are also a significant factor here too. For Sabat, Manions range is really all that matters as there's a significant side pot and I think you can assign Manion at least JJ+,AK as an iso in this spot if you consider Manion's view of Sabats flatting range. Manion covering Zhu by about 14mil also comes into consideration too.

Also can't remember exactly but the pay structure is very top heavy so there's that. Final table bubble isn't what it used to be with Nov 9.

There are places where KK is a fold pre but this isn't really one of them IMO. I even had to do it third hand of the Main once (call me a nit). Had KK first and third hand that day.

Re: WSOP 2018 results/tournament discussion (**NO SPOILERS**)

If Labat 3-bets his KK, Manions over-shove range narrows to pretty much AA.

I played like 100k SNGs and I think I identified one clear KK fold. I raised EP, got re-raised, a mega-nit pro (TreysFull) who knows me min-reraised him.

Well other than weird ICM bubble crap - which I refuse to fold KK then for meta-reasons and **** that. Definitely not worth thinking about in SNGs. Just play KK and AA the exact same pre.

fwiw, it's consistent to see vɝs is a valid pronunciation of vs and nukjəlɚ as not valid for nuclear.

Re: WSOP 2018 results/tournament discussion (**NO SPOILERS**)

Let's predict the order of finish of this table:

1. Cynn
2. Manion - has the looks of a 2nd place finisher all over him. Will play safe enough to not punt off chips until the end
3. Dyer - could win as well but I see him making an ill-timed over aggressive mistake at some point
4. Lynskey
5. Cada
6. Miles
7. Melalidi
8. Zobian
9. Labat

Yes, but back when Lon and Norm started doing the WSOP, it was only broadcasting the edited footage, airing later on; there was no live coverage for several years. I know many people don't care for them in that format either, but they are certainly better at it than they are at live commentary.

They overlaid the commentary on the edited footage. That way they could see how the hand played out first and then align their comments to match. They also could do multiple "takes" until they got it the way they wanted. Live commentary is another matter entirely! You've got to be able to think on your feet and get it right the first time. Much harder!

If I remember right last year they didnít finish in under 4-5 hours any of the 3 nights. The first night they lost 9 and 8 almost right away and then I think it took 3-4 hours to lose the next person.
