Bonomo has made a bunch in tourneys this year. Almost as much as Dwan wins in a day in Macau.

This event has been embarrassing, with Effel, Hellmuth and the floor announcer to top it off.

Let’s run it next year with 20 players

Can you imagine what a legend Phil Hellmuth would be if he didn't behave like such a clown? Picture a Phil Ivey sort of persona with that resume. I think he'd be one of the most popular "sport" personas in the world.

You are right. Everyone knew Scott played 10/20k since he tweeted about it last night and that was all they were talking about.

deffo.

you think of the way we regard Chan, Brunson, Ivery, Seidel etc.

Then you think of Hellmuth and goofball first comes to mind before legend.

WRONG- Being away from it has zero to do with staying sober. This is the great delusion of an addict. For an addict to say this is comical.

WRONG again- positive reinforcement has zero to do with anything as well. It doesn't hurt but 1000% doesnt work to keep an addict sober.

Phil can't even pronounce Justin's last name properly! He continually calls him "Bone emo."

Poor Lon, he never sees flush or straight draws on the flop, will say someone has paired his Ace when they actually flopped two pair, doesn't know the difference between a flopped set and trips, rarely knows if a player has called or raised, has trouble keeping track of the action and the list goes on and on. You would think after doing this for how many years he might began to learn how Hold'em is played.

Granted he has a lot of enthusiasm and can fill in the blank spaces with ideal chatter about a player's hat or shirt, but that's about all he's good for. And this is the best ESPN can do for the most important event in poker? It's way past time for Ali and Nick to take over!

I had to literally turn off the TV I was that disgusted by Phil.

Muting wasn't enough.

Phil is one of the best poker commentators alive. Almost as good as Nick. He could be the best, but he’s too busy winning to practice.

i tend to agree, but it needs to be pointed out that Effel was following the Rules (although i don't think he gives Salomon a penalty if he wins the hand):

Quote:
116. Exposing Cards and Proper Folding: A Participant exposing his or her cards with action pending will incur a penalty, but will not have a dead hand. The penalty will begin at the end of the hand. All Participants at the table are entitled to see the exposed card(s). When folding, cards should be pushed forward low to the table, not deliberately exposed or tossed high (“helicoptered”).

People flipping through channels wouldn't stop to watch him if he was always stoic. He wouldn't be as memorable, he wouldn't get nearly as much screen time and because of that his endorsements wouldn't count for nearly as much.

Gotta give some credit though. Most people would have too much pride to disgrace themselves like that. He had the vision and the moxy to take the bull by the horns and 'tard out on national tv while all the sheeple were trying to act with class and dignity.

so do we have a rough idea of the backing breakdowns? How much do you think Seiver scored from having stake in the final 3? what did Justin walk away with?

if these have been answered (I'm sure they've been asked) I apologize.

Justin sold $90k of his buyin to randoms online. FWIW

Did anyone catch that Hellmuth only got 10% premium from his stake (as the player). Wasn't 50% standard for the player back in the day?
