WSOP 2018 results/tournament discussion (**NO SPOILERS**) - Page 57 - Poker News

This Main Event is shaping up to be horrible, the worst ever.

2008 - First class of Nov 9 made it interesting
2009 - Ivey (best in world at time) and Darvin Moon
2010 - Grinder (big name, fun action player) and Candio
2011 - Ben Lamb (big name, fun action player)
2012 - Two Women go Deep, Salaburu/Koroknai strong villains
2013 - No great big names at final table but many went deep
2014 - Newhouse back to back and epic collapse
2015 - Negreanu Deep (great talker) and Justin Schwartz
2016 - Kassouf Deep (great talker) Qui Nguyen Action Player
2017 - John Hesp and Lamb/Saout 2 time FT
2018 - Minkin/Cada/Obst/Deeb/Pollak

You have 5 players that at least one must make it to the final table for a decent storyline.....

Minkin = Female
Cada = 2 Time ME Winner and Youngest Winner repeat?
Obst = Biggest Laydown in WSOP history deep in Main comes back??
Deeb = Talker and action player
Pollak = Back to Back FT would be more impressive than Newhouse, larger field and he finished 3rd last year

If none of these players make it you have NO story

Give it time. We still don't know who the true players for the title will be yet. At this point of the tournament in previous years, we didn't know who Hesp was yet, didnt know Qui'd action style, Kassouf and Benger hadn't gone at it yet, etc. Still plenty of time for stories to develop or be discovered

We need stories? This isn’t Bravo. It’s poker. Players battling for 8mil is the story. Who is the weak link?will the aggro tplayer get trapped or run over everyone? These are the sub plots

I want some fun crazy personalities to go deep and see some sick beats.

So far the most fun has been Josephy getting Rivered for a 7.5 million chip pot. That was Awesome!!!

I want this years Candio/Kassouf/Schwartz/Salaburu….most years we get blessed with a **** talking villain and this year so far I see none.

looking back I don't know if they can ever top day 6/7 of 2015. Schwartz top villain ever, Italian Wildman Screamer Butteroni, THE Danny Negreanu, 72 year old Neuville a top stack, Minkin chip lead then blowup, Cannuli and Zvi Stern action players, Steinberg owned by Schwartz several times, ER Doc leading final 27 before collapse.

What a run to the FT that was, then FT was pure **** maybe worst ever. But at least the run to FT was great.

I don’t actively pull for bad beats. Prefer skill to win. Obv they happen but honestly a final table full of bad beats would be very disapointing to most people who take the game seriously

2010 the epic Joseph Cheong blowup 3 handed.

And 2014 the best moment ever the Newhouse shove that got almost snapped off and the pain in his exit interview. That was the drama I want.

Yeah because it's obv in their interest to show less coverage and scam you out of $10. All the lightning only happening bc they are colluding with god.
