Today is the start of the Colossus. I think this is the first true temperature reading for poker. How many Joe Pokers will show up this year?

Surely they should have a line up for the $3k Shootout Final Table that has a good few named pros that we can gamble on ?

Maybe JRB? But he seems to be doing okay in the $3K shootout.

Down to 4 teams in Event #2. Jacobson/Radoja took 6th and Gomez/Lijo took 5th. DNegs and Co. still way out in front.

Only 14 FT are getting shown, and you have to pay for them. Last year they streamed everyday, and it was free.

This is a huge step down in quality.

A hearty congrats to Live Boeree and Igor Kurganov for winning the tag-team bracelet. They seem to me like two of the more smart, genuine, and level-headed stars in the game. Donating a chunk of their winnings to the REG charities doesn't hurt, either.

All true, but it is year 1 for this new arrangement between ESPN and PokerCentral, which was signed only a couple weeks ago right before the start of the series. I, for one, am supporting it by subscribing, with the hope that a decent level of support will couple with the first time experience of streaming the series to lead PokerGo onto a bigger and better approach going forward.

While the free final table streams on WSOP.com have been awesome the past few years, streaming every day of the main event this year is something I'm really looking forward to.

The $111k One Drop has only 119 runners, quite a lot down from last years 180+
There are rebuys available today but I doubt it will beat last years numbers.

Doesn't seem likely that they'll hit that number. I think there is only two more levels of registration left. The question now is which event will finally go above last years numbers.

I hope Poker Central is busto before the new year.

I don't really think the attendance numbers are that great of a temperature reading for poker.

The tournament circuit has evolved a great deal in the last decade with more circuit tournaments traveling around making the game (and big MTTs) way more accessible. It isn't necessary to make the trip to Vegas to experience these tournaments - the majority of us can probably find something similar within a 2 hour drive of our homes atleast once a year.

The WSOP obviously holds its own special place in poker lore, but a big part of its appeal (come play MTTs that you can't find any where else or any other time of the year) is gone.
